ASUS today announced the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition, a PC case that bolsters the aesthetics and sustainability of the original creator-focused PA602 chassis with parts constructed of durable and eye-catching wood.

A classic material for contemporary luxury
The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition seamlessly integrates wooden pieces into three locations. It starts with long handles along the top edge of the chassis, each sturdy enough to hold 30 kg. A second wood piece provides an eye-catching backdrop for the front I/O panel. Finally, long wood pieces are used for the ventilated front panel of the chassis. The wood used for the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), so users can trust that it was sourced from responsibly managed forests. Ash is the wood of choice because it offers superior hardness and durability, versus wood such as walnut. After selecting ideal pieces of lumber, the material's durability is enhanced with a thermowood treatment. Shaping and surface grinding refine each piece to exact specifications, and a two-step coating process highlights the natural appearance of the wood grain and applies a low-sheen finish. The wood elements of the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition elevate its sophisticated, professional look. With its minimalist design rooted in clean lines and pleasing symmetry, the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition chassis has an aesthetic that is never out of place.

Premier out-of-the-box cooling
The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition chassis gives users the best of both worlds - all-out cooling when they need it, and unobtrusive operation when they're working on lighter loads.

The cooling prowess starts up front with an open-grille front panel with wide venting slots. Overall, it offers exceptional porosity to ensure an unimpeded flow of cooling air into the chassis. Users will find two pre-installed 200 mm ProArt fans behind this grille. Since these fans are much larger than standard 120 mm or 140 mm case fans, they can move a greater volume of air at similar noise levels, giving users an incredible balance of performance and acoustics. These sturdy, large-bladed spinners are 38 mm thick and have a wide 300-1000 rpm range with PWM control, so they can deliver remarkably high airflow while remaining impressively quiet. When users need them to move copious amounts of air, they will deliver. The fans are rated for airflow of up to 190.2 cfm - nearly double what typical 200 mm system fans offer. A pre-installed 140 mm fan at the rear of the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition chassis helps exhaust heat, and it can spin down entirely for silent operation as temperatures permit.

Inside the chassis, dual air deflectors help send cooling air where it is needed the most. A lengthy panel along the front edge of motherboard tray gently nudges the airstream over the top edge of the motherboard for reduced turbulence and to ensure great cooling for the CPU and power delivery circuitry. The PSU shroud also features an angled front edge to direct airflow toward the graphics card.

With the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition, there are two choices for the side panel. One version includes a metal side panel that prioritizes cooling efficiency and durability. The second includes sophisticated tempered-glass side panel that puts the inner workings of a PC on display. To supply the GPU with even more cooling air, the tempered-glass side panel features a perforated insert that lets the fans on the graphics card breath more deeply.

Expanding the array of case fans in the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition is easy, thanks to an embedded PWM hub. It supports up to six fans controlled by the motherboard, providing a convenient and efficient way to optimize the cooling performance of a system while simplifying cable management. An easily accessible button on the front I/O panel lets users maximize the airflow of all the fans connected to this controller in one press - or quickly switch back to Automatic mode.

Hassle-free PC building
The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition chassis goes above and beyond to simplify and streamline the PC building process. First, this PC case is endowed with plenty of elbow room, even for large components. The chassis stands ready for fully loaded EATX motherboards. If users prefer a robust tower cooler for their CPU, the 190 mm maximum CPU cooler height provided by the PA602 will let them have their pick from just about any option on the market. For users considering liquid cooling, the top bracket supports radiators all the way up 420 mm for truly high-end cooling.

Today's content creation apps use the next-gen processing power of graphics cards to accelerate work. The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition offers more than enough room for even the largest and most powerful graphics cards available. An embedded graphics card holder keeps the graphics card straight and level, whether users prefer it in a horizontal or a vertical orientation.

Completed projects, high-resolution assets, and large datasets can all demand a large amount of storage. The ample interior of the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition gives users plenty of options for installing a large number of drives. With support for up to eight 2.5-inch SSDs, users will be able to quickly set up a storage array that is as large as it is speedy. The chassis also includes four drive bays compatible with 3.5-inch HDDs.

Finally, the ProArt PA602 chassis minimizes the need for tools when building or maintaining a PC. Both side panels release with the press of just one button. The PA602 also marks the debut of the patented and ASUS-exclusive Tool-Free Graphics Card Slot Clamp, a mechanism for installing PCIe add-in cards, including graphics cards, without the need for a screwdriver.

Everyday conveniences
The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition chassis goes beyond simplifying the build process with thoughtful touches that streamline the user's everyday experience with their PC. Creators often need to connect a wide range of peripherals and external storage devices to their workstations, so the front panel is loaded with USB ports. The list is headlined by a speedy USB 20 Gbps Type-C port - pair this case with a compatible motherboard to get the most out of it. Two USB 5 Gbps Type-A and two USB 2.0 ports give users plenty of options for connecting other devices.

Detachable dust filters slow down the accumulation of dust inside the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition chassis. The chassis also has a patented system that automatically detects the accumulation of dust, microfibers and other particles on the front filter. When it is time for a good cleaning, an LED on the side of the chassis will illuminate.

The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition caters to creators
The ProArt PA602 Wood Edition is a dream case for creative professionals. Offering ample space for high-end components and a large storage array, it is more than ready for cutting-edge components, and it delivers the powerful cooling users need to keep their PC operating optimally even during the most demanding workloads. A host of conveniences simplify the build process and streamline daily operation, and the sophisticated design makes it a refined addition to any studio, set or workspace.

TBH it doesn't even look like wood. I certainly wouldn't have guessed it from the pictures, had it not been stated in the text.

IMO it has a LOT going for it. Handles - YES! please finally. I feel like it is missing a card reader for a workstation build and may be they can take a page from Fractal POP case with 2x5.25 on the bottom front. To have it all.

If they offer it with no tempered glass side panel, then great. That's one of the bad things with the original version.

Looks great! Give it to me in m-ATX, and for the fraction of the price that Asus usually asks for, and we'll have a deal. :)

The all-black version may be the best case I have seen for quite some time. When it's time to do a larger PC, this is among my top two.

I think what could have been nice - an MATX version of this case.

No solid side panel?
I'm so sick of glass.

From the article:

With the ProArt PA602 Wood Edition, there are two choices for the side panel. One version includes a metal side panel that prioritizes cooling efficiency and durability. The second includes sophisticated tempered-glass side panel that puts the inner workings of a PC on display.
