Place holder....just got a Win10 LTSB HP Z440 w/o storage. Will chat later.

What motivates our userbase to use 10 over 11 (or vice versa)

I should add I feel like 10 might have been a better experience for me but (and I can't recall why not) think I needed 11 for my current build.

i actually tried windows 10 yesterday on my new sig rig, and had issues with ethernet working, so i said screw it and went to win 11 and everything worked perfect. it doesn't feel bloated or anything after i went through and uninstalled a bunch of apps, and all that junk

feels very clean and no issues so far, plus all the videos i have seen say i get about 5-6 fps more in games across the board with my current specs, minus one or two outliers that favor win 10.

i think i prefer win 11 now honestly, i do things a little differently than most people though, like i uninstall media player, etc etc - in favor of foobar and vlc player and so on and so forth

I have LTSC 2021 on my X299 and LTSC 2019 on my X58 system. There's too many things that I don't like about Windows 11 so I'll keep my PCs on Windows 10 for years to come. I'm probably going to switch back to Linux on my main PC unless Windows 12 (LTSC) will be good enough. I do prefer some UI things like the transparency effects on Windows 11, they remind me a bit of Aero (Vista/7) which was my favorite UI design on Windows.

Windows 10 non-LTSC support will end next year but I hope programs will support it for at least few years after EOL like they did with XP and 7. Win10 IoT LTSC will receive security updates up to 2032 but I doubt most mainstream programs would support it for that long.

I have a feeling they will offer extended support just like what they did with Windows XP and 7, We're 1 year away from their planned end of support but according to statistics from this site Windows 10 still has more than 60%+ marketshare, now that figure would probably continue to decline throughout 2025 but considering W11 is still pretty unpopular and somewhat disliked plus the hardware requirements, people are still going to be reluctant to upgrade.

I seriously doubt that they would not offer extended support for W10 just like what they did with XP and W7.

Microsoft has already shared details about the extended support. But having paid extended support doesn't guarantee that 3rd party software would keep support for Win10. Many programs dropped Win7 support before the ESU ended in 2023.
