He uploaded a video going through the remains (it reminded me of Austin Evans' video on when his apartment/flat burned down), but I suspect it'll take a while for him to get his house restored. There's some serious damage from when the tree fell on his house and let water in, causing a lot of stuff to mold. You can't get this kind of damage fixed quickly.
No you are right there. He will have to restock all the Retro gear he has.I just got my Floppy discs
from eBay 72 with stuff on them.plus copy,s of Money wise sealed Quicken for Windows all disc 1 o_ONot that they will be any good to anyone:(And nine copy,s of personal computer world. :fear: And two discs with nothing on them.Any guess how many i will get working?
After the last lot i am not confident:(.

Does anyone know what these files are, there is nothing on the disc to say what they are ? o_O

Probably just proprietary compressed files that the installer extracts to the HDD.

He's still working on it, but progress is being made.

stock bios (will get the v64 bios) and stock pads (very bad shape so needs new pads)
I think it can do GTX1080 performance.

It is full reference v56 samsung hbm2. Powercolor just a sicker.
Very underrated card. Somehow here the budget gpus are GTX1060, RX4xx and RX5xx series. But this is much better than those. Just a little power hungry.

It is underrated, just undervolt it and it performs great. I traded it for Galax GTX 1070 Katana which I still have

.dwg and .xlg are file formats used in AutoCAD -- also see the file names "former2", "formhead", "formtool".
Most probably some technical drawings made with such a program: good man saved his project files before applying any changes.

Why the 5:4 ratio LCD screen?

Wow it still churn out quite a good performance!
Oh hell yeah. Slap an RTX 2070 or 2080 in that box and it'll do RT like a champ!

It is my test station monitor (Belinea 19" LCD, AT-Ps/2 to USB Focus FK2000 plus keyboard, and MS Intelimouse). This LCD can handle dsub, dvi (hdmi, dp with adapters) and 1280x1024@75, so it is good for old DOS and new Windows.
Is there a way to enable RT on Vega?

Bought an P3-800MHz CPU
I have no photo from the actual CPU. I was too curious to test it.

I placed it in an IBM Netvista 6269-M1G. When i bought it, it had an 1GHz CPU, but that was too close to my Tualatin 1400. First i found a 733, but after around 2 years found an 800EB for cheap.
And i have another 1GHz build, that i want to sell, and only keep the mobo for spare

I was looking around in the shed for something and to my surprise I came across my old Sony Trinitron that I had thought went off to the e-cycler years ago, luckily for me it never actually made it that far.

Took the back off and blew out all the dust and debris that ended up in it and it cleaned up pretty well.

Still working pretty good for being near 40 Years old. Although the adjustment pots need to be cleaned up with contact cleaner because they're not working properly.
And no corrosion, rust or blown/leaking caps thankfully but I think at least some of the caps are bad judging by the amount of smearing and distortion. TBF that could also just be the composite output from the Wii, I'll try my 360 and see if it looks any better.

Superglue. I'll show you, 1sec..

EDIT:
Ok I'm currently working on a retro-project for a client ATM, so here's some photo's of what I mean;

SuperGlueHeatSinkSpots01.jpg

SuperGlueHeatSinkSpots02.jpg

I'm using an old ATI IGP chip from a board that died as an example. The silver dots are where you put drops of super glue. The larger gold dot is where you put a bit of thermal paste. Any good paste will do.

First off get a heatsink of a similar size and use a sanding block or sanding paper to lightly rough up the bottom surface. This will allow the the glue to bond well to the chip and heatsink. The thermal paste will of course allow for good heat transfer. This works a fair treat. Clean the bottom of the heatsink very well in readiness for gluing.

Second, apply the the thermal paste, about a grain of rice sized, to the center of the chipset.

Third, apply the superglue to the top corners of the as pictured above.

Last, press the heatsink onto the chipset carefully but firmly and hold it in place for about 90 seconds.

Once your done, you're golden.

Do they really get that hot tho?
Yes, they get hot enough to affect stability. Better safe than sorry IMHO.
