Visit a psychologist, or just do something on your own.
Been there done both, foq all it helped 'took some pills too' with my actual issues I've had at the time ofc I did not go to a shrink cause of my phobia cause its not that severe yet.
In real life I simply avoid spiders whenever possible or get rid of them, in games its not to the point where I can't play a game cause of it but I also don't look for spider themed games either.
Also if you think thats crying then again that only shows your side of 'humanity' not mine.

The fact that a topic like this could get to this point is the saddest part imo so I will leave it at that.

The person you're replying to isn't worth the key-stroke wear on your keyboard. Just put them on ignore and allow them to jerk-off all over themselves being the tough guy on the internet.

Its almost like they grew up in a terryifying world out to get them.

You are joking right?

Also, for people who are legit afraid of spiders in real life, you may actually enjoy attempting to overcome your phobia in a video game. You may find that the thrill over overcoming something that scares you is incredibly empowering.

If therapy doesn't help, then it could be an issue with the therapist.

Guess what, I'm terrified of spiders, too. But if one enters the house, I clench my teeth together and take it out, or kill it if it's too big and looks dangerous. I might be shaking for a few moments afterwards, but I f-ing do it, and believe it or not, I feel better for it.

I do have sympathy for people with mental disorders or any form of weakness. But I do not have sympathy for those who use their weakness as a shield against responsibility, against life and as an excuse in general without taking action or reaching out for help.

The person you're replying to isn't worth the key-stroke wear on your keyboard. Just put them on ignore and allow them to jerk-off all over themselves being the tough guy on the internet.
If "tough guy" is your impression of me, then you completely misunderstood my posts.

That is exactly my point! I'm not here to play Mr Tough Guy who isn't afraid of anything. I am very much afraid of many things. But I admit it, face it and move on. This is how I grow as a person.

Edit: If one needs help, I highly recommend reaching out for it. No one should be wallowing in fear.

Your ancestors when they migrated from the Steppes and terrorized half of Europe. They wouldn't need an option to turn off spiders.

"Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times" - G. Michael Hopf.

Now, someone tell me why I should feel any sympathy towards weak men who can't be asked to make a lick of an effort to get stronger, and need an option to disable scary things in a shooter instead (a game where you kill people mind you).

Edit: On the other hand, if you're a game developer and you want to make your game accessible to people who don't like spiders, then maybe don't put frekkin' spiders in it. :kookoo:

Those are old school gamer elves ... they have no time to be scared, they just kill.
I hate to break it to you but... they also aren't real.

Look, the option may be a bit debatable as far as effort vs reward, but I really don't get the hatred towards something that is literally a toggle option. As for phobias, they have always existed, but people who had them in "hard times" would previously have just friggin died.

Just turn the option off if you don't like it.

You are joking right?
I wish. Theres a reason millenials forward are overwhelmingly not having kids.

This is not a legit way to treat a phobia. Consult a doctor, not a forum.

I don't hate the option. I just don't get it in a game where you kill people. Isn't that worse than being afraid of spiders?

There is a misunderstanding here. Being afraid of something does not neccesarily reach the level of a full blown dysfunctional phobia.

Not to someone with a phobia, perhaps.

Still, having a phobia is not an excuse not to try to overcome it or seek help.

True but some cures are easier attained than others. Some just aren't attainable with modern science. Sadly those tend to be the most extreme variants.

That ruins the game for people who like spiders?

My biggest concern with this is that doing it so it really doesn't alter gameplay is tricky. So the cost to benefit question is... questionable. But what I hate even more honestly is the way this article is presented just to stoke ugly gamer rage. Like please, we have enough of that without stoking the flames.

With all due respect, I find that argument bonkers.

I could be making a zombie survival horror game set in a dungeon. But to accommodate to claustrophobic people, you'd have a toggle to disable walls. Then another toggle to disable blood for people with a weak stomach. And another one to disable zombies if you don't like them. Why not just disable the whole game entirely?

Besides, CoD has never been about spiders, as far as I know. I don't know why the sudden need for them, especially if it only leads to the introduction of the arachnophobia toggle.

My biggest concern with this is that doing it so it really doesn't alter gameplay is tricky. So the cost to benefit question is... questionable.
Exactly. Besides, what are those floating heads you have with the arachnophobia toggle on? They look utterly ridiculous.

But what I hate even more honestly is the way this article is presented just to stoke ugly gamer rage. Like please, we have enough of that without stoking the flames.
That I agree with.

Little Miss Muffet <--- over 200 years ago the Brits gave us this poem.

This is the British version.

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
There came a big spider,
Who sat down beside her
And frightened Miss Muffet away.

And this is the American version after a bit of a brush up.

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
There came a big spider,
Who sat down beside her
Miss Muffet grabbed a AK47 and blew the spider away.

I used to be such a COD hoe, but after MW Remastered, and MW 2 Remastered, my interest in the franchise waned.....so no, not gonna buy any more COD game any more. Besides, I'm not a big fan of all Black Ops games anyway, and that includes this one as well.

It's not been released yet, right? I play SP only, so I've gotta wait for official release on 5th December, but will wait for reviews and such.....but I'm interested in it.....any war game but COD.
