They're pretty nice, right? If you have problems with games in the Game Room, try the RA Game Room (RetroArch). I started playing Link's Awakening DX (GBC) and it was basically unplayable in the Game Room, but the RetroArch emulators are much better so there it's flawless. (i have the RG35XX Plus btw)

thanks for the heads-up!!... i'll stick with RA. I prefer RA's coloured console selection page, it makes it easy to identify consoles quickly.

(i have the RG35XX Plus btw)

nice!!

I was seriously torn between the RG 40XXV (same vertical form factor as the RG35XX Plus) and the CubeXX. Wasn't sure if bigger hands were made for the smaller grab so I threw in the towel and got the chunkier Cube. No regrets though - I'm already considering a second one for the family.. vertical incoming!

It is too small, frankly, and I don't have enormous hands, just normal big guy hands.

First thing I should preface this post with: someone tried to throw this in the garbage, but I saved it.

This is a Dell U3011, a 30-inch 2560x1600 professional monitor from 2011/2012. I spotted it on the curb last night when it was destined for the trash! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD TOSS THIS?! It cost over $1800 US in today's dollars back then. Needless to say, I quickly took it home and cleaned it up. It has no issues.

Just bought and installed another AliExpress 7700 CPU in my budget AMD build (197.00$ Shipped) to see if the store was on the level. It is running DDR5 6000 CL30 at a 1:1 UCLK/MEMCLK with PBO set to -30 without issue.

Nice choice, I got one too had it since Feb 23 or so and it just runs fine no issue at all at stuck speeds, since I do not have much time testing stability anymore so I rarely oc and uv.

I've made a lot of tech purchases since I've last posted in this thread, lmao. On that list are a teal iPhone 16, an ASUS ProArt OC 4070 SUPER and a base model silver M4 MacBook Pro. I'll post pics of the GPU box once I get back to my apartment in a few hours, but in the meantime, here's my new phone and my experiences with it thus far. Shot on iPad Air 5th gen.

1730654940087.jpeg

While a single-generation phone upgrade wasn't a logical decision by any means, I've still been enjoying my new phone. The main difference in my daily usage has been the bigger storage capacity I got - 256GB vs the 128GB I had before. Being able to actually download a decent selection of apps and games has been way more convenient, and IMO, that was a decent reason to upgrade by itself.

The difference between the A16 Bionic and the A18 has also been noticeable for me, mainly because I do a lot of mobile gaming. More influential, however, has been the decreased overheating due to the metal-encased battery. It hasn't been a night and day difference by any means, but it's definitely noticeable and highly appreciated since I often use my phone without a case. Though I did get an Apple-branded "lake green" case for my new phone, which has been really nice to use and gives me peace of mind in case I drop the thing.

Other than that, not many differences. Apple Intelligence... exists, I guess, but it's made very little impact in my daily usage. I can appreciate Apple not wanting to overstep their bounds when it comes to AI, but their focus on privacy has made what AI they do offer way less interesting to use.

As for the new GPU, there's an embarrassing story to accompany that purchase. Basically, I destroyed the thermals on my previous RTX 3070 by removing the stock thermal paste and being too incompetent to know what to do to restore them. Hotspots on the 3070 were breaching 90 degrees Celsius and I had no idea what to do, so I just got the SKU I thought would match my price range, preferred resolution in 1440p and desired future-proofing headroom the best. That ended up being a brand-new 4070 SUPER; I admittedly avoided the used market this time because I wanted the experience of a new card.

The card's really nicely built despite having a plastic shroud, and doesn't overheat at all - in fact, the thermals are way more than adequate on the new card. More importantly, the performance bump is noticeable, too. For example, for whatever reason, Zenless Zone Zero is really intensive on PC, and I often couldn't sustain 60 FPS in that game with my prior 3070 without stuttering. The 4070 SUPER is more than adequate for 60 FPS and beyond, so long as I'm not multitasking too much while playing the game. (Hey, I have a terrible attention span; leave me alone  )

Finally, the main reason why I decided to get a new MacBook Pro is because the M4 models start at 16GB of RAM. My current MacBook Air only has 8GB and it's miserable at times. So all things considered, a new laptop was a smarter purchase than getting a new phone just for more storage. Additionally, I'll be getting a massive display upgrade with the 120Hz option + 1000 nits of brightness in direct sunlight, plus more performance with the M4 SoC and active cooling. Plus more ports, and IMO, the recent MacBook Pro's just look more premium. But I'll see how I like it once it arrives on Friday.

A little feedback about the Creative AE5-Plus I bought a few pages back in this thread.

Thing is...it's back in the box. It's a fantastic card when it works...a quick search with string: "AE5 Plus lost on boot", will tell you everything. Basically since I have it, it has failed to initialize four times by now for a few weeks time. I have disabled fast boot both in BIOS and windows start up options, updated drivers, enabled S5 power state in BIOS, nada....if I leave my PC to sleep/hybernate upon wake up card fails to boot up. My old Soundblaster Z SE OEM, I've had for a decade (!!!)....is back in my system and happily chugging along.

EDIT: also bought a new phone: Moto G84 (Marshmallow blue <- least liked colour by reviewers :) ).

I have lost faith in lenovo after the G4 plus that i had died very conveniently at 13 months old. Just after warranty ended. And they were charging me half the phone price(from new) to fix it. It also had a lot of design issues. I had to replace the camera glass with aftermarket better quality part. The stock one was not hardened glass and got scratches easily.

It is a fantastic colour indeed! :)

Well, I am in EU, so 2 years warranty by law and I paid for extra two years warranty, so theoretically I got it with 48 months warranty. I am happy with the build quality so far, what I see as a major con is the most common critique to Moto's these days: they only guarantee two major updates on the OS and then abandon the phone. Unlike my Redmi 5 I've had for six years and still getting support from Xiaomi. I really do hope Moto change their policy on this one.

i own a moto edge 50 fusion, it's battery backup is pretty underwhelming even with normal usage, not bad but not great either. It's screen was replaced for 1/4th the price of phone after water damage but they did not put the originally manufactured screen instead something cheap which was not durable so due to slight drop the screen broke from right-mid , it's not that significant and and blessing in disguise for me because my brother decided to buy s23 fe from his workplace and i got this moto phone. Haven't faced much issues in any other apartment though and maybe they can provide regular updates. The camera is amazing though, especially with GCAM, probably the best camera phone i have ever owned, mainly because all my phones in the past have been entry level and this is my first proper midrange phone.

i own a moto edge 50 fusion, it's battery backup is pretty underwhelming even with normal usage, not bad but not great either. The camera is amazing though, especially with GCAM, probably the best camera phone i have ever owned, mainly because all my phones in the past have been entry level and this is my first proper midrange phone.

dont go dropping your s23 FE though. Samsung displays are expensive. They do change it and give within 30mins if you visit them though. One time my phone Samsung j7 pro fell from 10th floor, i took it to the servce foks. Charged me 4500 (phone was 25,000) and gave it within 30mins of me waiting, fortunately only the display got damaged! :D The first display change though they gave for 990rs. there was some scheme going on back then.

s23 fe is owned by my brother, idk why would such expensive flagship phone can damage from normal fall? the moto edge 50 fusion fell from a very small height yet screen was replaced for 7000, thought it might include water damage charges.

more expensive = more delicate usually. Goes for cars bikes phones and probably planes and stuff too.

Plastic deforms, metal doesn't easily. Hence metal framed phones conduct shock to glass.

Use cases.

This! Protective cases are a must unless one likes beat up phones and cracked screens.

i suggest trying to find Golden Sand cases, they are a very good cost effective option here in india. if you dont mind the price then go for Spigen.

plus with more expensive it means more glass and usually a heavier phone than cheap plastic ones, so there is a lot more energy to dissipate when hitting the ground! yeahhh... science bi*** :pimp:
