What's your latest tech purchase?

Ordered protector back and front from Ali, arrived yesterday. The G84 protected:

Seriously? What do you mean why?
I usually don't go back with tech. If the machine can run latest Windows, I won't roll back to a previous version. My point was, "why would you buy an original license of Win7 in 2024?" Is it a collectable? Is it hobby/profi use? Personally I wouldn't.

Ok. That's you though. Some of us keep using what works. Windows 7 still works perfectly and will continue to do so.

You do you, that's cool.

Because hell yes? Why not? I bought 3 of them recently, two of them for me, one for a client of mine.

Key still works for W11 Pro today :)
There's this too.

Really the reason I got it is that it was dirt cheap (you can see this was lost in some warehouse corner for the past decade) and having a genuine license feels good. Cost me pretty much the same as a gray market key goes for and even comes with that shiny genuine installation disc. I'm keeping it sealed until the time to do the rebuild on my rig comes :)

Second set of funny keycaps, this time with negative amount of weebiness and improved visibility in a dark room. Photos are only partially installed.

Suggestion for the laptop: put Linux on it if it's too slow. Linux will run a lot better. Or run Chris Titus' debloat script if you want to stick to Windows.

All I see are a key puller, a numpad, and floating arrows.

The new keys are in camouflage optics. ;) You see them in the package below the key puller and in Picture 2 are some mounted.

you are one of those people eh? :pimp:

Software though. Getting old hardware is one thing, but software? I have Photoshop 4.0 on a CD, what is that worth to a non-collector today?

Software though.
Fair point.

All of the previous software still works.

Is there anything functionally wrong with it? Will it still work? So yeah, still of value. I still have PaintShopPro9. Still use it. Why? Because it works. No it's not the new hotness but it still works perfectly.

Upgrade itch..... settled for now.... maybe! :D

Continuing in the spirit of the @jarablue's post, I've got a a new monitor.

TCL C805 50" mini LED TV. The poor man's OLED. :) It won't see any TV channels or inbuilt apps usage, internet connection nor speakers action. Yeah, sorry google, no data mining from this one. Great hardware limited only by its software, challenge accepted. A lot of different firmware upgrades, huge dedicated thread at avforums.
For ~€500 it sure is an amazing upgrade (from a 27" 1440p). Now I can sit comfortably reclined in my armchair at my ~90cm deep desk, and have my eyes at ~120cm from the screen. Less eyes fatigue, huge desktop real estate, insane games immersion. Pardon my bad photos, I'm using the old phone. The new one became airborne (for a moment) from the roof of the car this summer...

Just bought this 2005 CBR125R with 15k miles on it, as a little project. It does run, but had been stored, for a few years, so brakes are both seized, and needs a replacement headlight, so gonna do a single light led conversion. I have the seats, and keys.

Gonna put this on it-

That's like your second bike in.....a week since previous post? :P Projects are fun. Count me in, watched so many restoration videos on YT. I really need a sandblasting chamber though. Get some sick valve caps as well (they steal them a lot though).

I buy this, Dell P1914S for my retro gaming PC. For few reasons:
Its IPS, 19 inch size,
4:3 1280x1024 is middleground between low 1024x768 and 1600x1200 so it's not that taxing for GPU,
it have mixed of old and new port; VGA, DVI and DP

Color looks great. There is a small dot in the middle-ish (you can see on top pics, below the right sword) but it's not distracting and alright for used monitor.
