Every so often I go trhough the net and test things out that people rave about. In this latest test I kept reading how people were raving about 2 programs that displayed onscreen data during their games. So I decided to check out MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner statistics for onscreen data and see just what all the hype was about. So I went through over 15 videos and found it very interesting that the end result with all of them, was exactly the same.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

What I find interesting is regardless of what video I go by, the end result is exactly the same. The only number that ever shows up for me on screen in the game is the number I have circled in the screenshot I've attached to this topic. As you can see there is no CPU or CPU % no colors no anything anyone shows going over in their videos. As far as MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner goes you cannot rave about how good a program is but then fail to explain how to actually get it to work. That is what leads into people getting called liars and having arguments on forums. For me I just use the only 2 conclusions
1. people are trolling and it doesn't work
or
2. There are a bunch of instructions missing that people somehow believe aren't important on purpose or not skipping information or steps is inexcusable and cannot be justified
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My experience with doing these types of checking it's usually option 2 that winds up being the problem. People fail to understand that when you make instructions ALL Steps are required to be included and arguing otherwise means you're being an A-Hole. You cannot post what you call instructions, skip steps, then try to blame the person following your so called tutorial. if someone cannot follow it then that is the fault of the person who uploaded the video not the person following it. The worst thing is how the makers of these programs also fail to explain their product which they don't. I cannot find a single thing anywhere that explains how to get anything edited in these programs to show up on the screen while in a game.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyway I wanted to share this with people to show exactly what i'm talking about Here are just 2 of the 5 videos I've gone through and the only thing that is never gone over is how to get the data onscreen while running a game. As I said the screenshot I attached to this topic, shows what happens even after following those videos.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The first video is utter trash, it skips so many steps it's pathetic which I left comments in the comment section pointing out the issue. The second video is better but not by much, at least the person takes the time to make sure people know how to access the screens. But regargless, neither video explained how to get the things theyre editing, to show up on the screen while in game.

Basing software usage after a dude that thumbnails himself doing a meme is pretty cringe and might be the first mistake.

As for detection that is likely going to depend on game and what hooking method it needs, not all are created equal.

No matter how easy you engineer the design there's always a fool who's not gonna understand it. So nope, if you don't understand something it doesn't necessarily mean it's conveyed badly.

Watched the Wormz's video, it's very much informative. You just never clicked on the ticks.

Except the way people are passing off Rivatuner to work is supposed to be really simple here are the steps:
1. Set up what you want to be displayed in the game in rivatuner and save the edits
2. Run the game and whatever you edited in Rivatuner is automatically supposed to be displayed on screen in the game.

Despite that's how everyone says to do it and what every video shows, the only stat that shows up on screen in the game, is what I showed in the screenshot. This means one of 4 things
1. Either people are lying and the programs don't even do anything
2. People are missing instructions (Which is almost always the case) but this one even the makers of the program failed on all ends to explain how to get the onscreen display
3. People are using a totally separate program to get people to think Rivatuner is what's being used to display
4. There is some very clever editing in adobe or some other program

The first part of your reply is 100% false because you're talking to someone who re-does manuals and complex information so it can be relayed to that anyone can follow it even if they know nothing about hat they're doing. The end result should happen no matter who is following it and that's the point. FYI I've never once failed to have anyone that follows my stuff fail not once you're more in tuned with blaming me than excepting the person did an extremely piss poor job relaying information.

If something needs to be checked off in a program in order to get it to work, then the person who did the video is responsible for making sure anyone looking at it understand it. in this case from what you';re saying I somehow misunderstood which is false. I didn't miss anything I did exactly what was presented in the video so if the end result didn't pan out that is the fault of the person who did the video. All I did was copy what the person said to do. He clearly screwed up...simple as that

It works for many people. It is the best option in many people's opinion.

It isn't working for you. Show us a screenshot of your monitoring settings in Afterburner.

This is 100% irrelevant you don't need someone's personal settings to explain how to get a program that is supposed to be displaying things on screen in a game to do it's job.

It's some of the easiest software I've ever used. If you are trying to only work in Rivatuner settings, that may be your problem. Most of what you want to work with to display on screen is on the "Monitoring" tab of Afterburner, not Rivatuner.

This is 100% irrelevant you don't need someone's personal settings to explain how to get a program that is supposed to be displaying things on screen in a game to do it's job.
Actually, yes, we DO need to see a screenshot of your "Monitoring" tab to guide you in the right direction. So are you here for help or just to rant? You'll get help if that's what you actually want.

I never said it didn't work What I said was after doing enough testing and following videos, a program that people claim is supposed to be displaying on screen data isn't doing what it's supposed to which means either the people didn't explain how they actually did it because they skipped an instruction they didn't think was important (Which is usually the case) or they're lying

Either way I have done nothing wrong, and my settings have zero to do with not having any data displayed on sceen in the game which is what this program is supposed to do.

I've been checking on instructions for a very long time and I can tell you all that no you actually don't need my monitoring set up as it's irrelevant to the purpose or RIvatuner.

Rivatuner is for displaying temps and FPS and data, not system specs and the nhumbers will vary from game to game which means the settings being edited in rivatuner have absolutely no relavance to your system settings as far as what's being displayed on screen in a game. Example If you don't have CPU checked off it wouldn't show up. But if CPU is checked off in the monitoring tab and it's set correectly in Rivatuner and it still doesn't show up, then someone didn't explain how to get that specific data on the screen in game which means it's their fault for not explaining it correctly

How about someone make a video or show every single thing in Rivatuner that needs to be activated and show it in every menu and I'll copy it and see if it works it's aas simple as that. Since it's not showing up in my game then someone didn't explain and go over all the settings in Rivatuner needed in order to pull that off.

Yup used it on and off for years and never had an issue with it, neither waatched any videos or tutorials that I can remember, just played with it myself and worked out what i needed to do in most cases. Also can confirm it is very easy to go into the settings set the params you want to display and have it work as intended like 95% of the people on this thread, so just because something isn't working for you doesn't mean it doesn't work or is bad SW in general, you have refused to show your settings so it could be down to those or some other variable within your system but hey, we might all just be lying as you have said3-4 times now lol definitely seems like a skills/you issue my man :pimp:

because you're talking to someone who re-does manuals
FYI I've never once failed to have anyone that follows my stuff fail
That remains to be proved. What if you only did it once and your student was a genius? Who knows?

Anyhow, you provided insufficient information on how and what you did and then you unloaded a load of accusations towards software that's easy to use even if you're a half braindead moron (I'm pointing to me. I legit have half my brain not functioning AT ALL). This means you never tried to understand the guide or you just hate for the sake of it. Either way, this whole thread is a clown fiesta and unless you show exacly, step-by-step, what you did and how you did it, no one's gonna help with your particular case. This is, FYI, the basics of writing of which you're so proud.
The first part of your reply is 100% false
And no, it's not false. If a person studying the guide doesn't activate their neurons for whatever reason they are in no right to blame the publisher.
