Sure. Don’t pull the breaker or turn off the PSU while the BIOS update is in process.
No, but really, BIOS updates are so easy and hassle-free nowadays that I doubt you’d encounter any difficulties. Just pop the USB stick into the flashback port, push the button and that’s it. Or do it from the UEFI, whatever you want.

Updating the BIOS in UEFI is a little faster than just the USB rear Port. If you are changing the CPU though you are relegated to updating the BIOS before you change the chip out or using the BIOS Flashback feature on the MB before you install the new chip.

Did you ever try 7950x with smt off and / or one CCD clocked higher? I'd do that before putting 9800x3d in for better comparison.

Update UEFI/BIOS first. Make sure it posts successfully afterward. Then install new CPU.

Interesting but too late. Goal is 9950X3D anyway but it could be a while. Meanwhile I can figure out if I want to go X870.

BIOS done and set memory to auto settings.

Well, it didn't take long and no issues. Sure is cooler, at least 7°C at idle. 39 "calibrated". AIDA64 time.

Maybe you can start the 9000 Owners club. I am sure it will be just as popular as all other AMD focused threads or more based on sales and information will be good to share about experiences. Narratives like initial issues like long boot times and high temps are generally debunked and most of the time it is completely constructive dialogue. I love the fact that you got 64GB running at 6000 MHz on a X670E board. That proves that the memory controller is the catalyst in the performance improvement and not just X870 boards.

And new BIOS's that enables EXPO II. The Memory was running at 6000 originally but BIOS changes turned it off.
