I was going to say he mixed up some of his spells and accidentally cast fireball at the server
Unlikely since this has happened multiple times over about a day.
There is something more serious at hand. I saw several 502s after that particular admission.
Note that W1zzard admits knowing about the probable cause but doesn't offer it up to forum participants. Most likely TPU moderators and other staffers know what the issue is by now.
I'm fine with him keeping the minutiae of running a tech media server with minimal commentary. But admitting the problem online and not offering an explanation is what the big boys do. Wasn't expecting that from TechPowerUp.
Now I realize that this comment will probably have a bunch of people rush to his defense but let's face it, if he can't run a media site with as much uptime as the competition, he is going to find it challenging to grow his audience. It's not like the tech media marketplace is starving for more websites. All of these sites basically report on the same topics. It's not like I can read something here that I can't eventually read elsewhere. And likewise sometimes I can read stuff elsewhere that takes hours/days/weeks before TPU provides coverage.
Anyhow, time for me to sign out for a while, hopefully the site will be more stable the next time I try to log in.
See you later!
