not defensive, im pissed with amd's gpu effort. id like to support them fully, but for years they do nothing to show they want to lead. they only follow. why with cpu but not with gpu. im certain theres so hidden issue. its not that they cant but wont. otherwise I didnt understand what you mean. youre saying no issues with drivers, I have issues. but lets leave that alone. amd drivers are amazing. im saying for video editing, they dont make a dent

6900 is the only card that makes a dent but anything lower does nothing. and 6900xt used cards are FAR higher then a used 3090. and gpu driver support is longer with nvidia. I downloaded the latest driver for the 1070 for w10 build 1709, installed. with amd, I had a niightmare downloading endless versions trying to get something to run. its good amd get scolded. like with their FX lineup (I have the 8320fx) telling them to wake up.
im waiting for a good price for the 5950x or 5900xt. hopefully within a week. but for gpu for video editing, I wish theyd wake up and go for nvidias throat just like how hard theyre going after intel. but no way in hjek id go with amd for video editing.
the thing is people will say wow, amazing, what a comeback for cpu, but for gpu people will still say "oh, amd..? yea, I prefer nvidia"
and reading toms interview with amd executive saying theyre not competing with flagship level with 8000 series. going down.
there was a black magic guide (and im certain its the same with premiere) on yt where the BM guy basically says, right now focus only on nvidia cards. they had years to push harder.
its an illusion to say you get more for less money with amd. its a lie. youre not. to get more you need to pay more. 4700 ti S vs 7900xtx. xtx costs a bit more and performs a bit less. not impressed. and used, amd gpu are FAR higher then nvidia
not a defense, im happy to buy nvidia. when (if) theyll wake up, ill be happy to buy amd.
