me either, nor HL1, every time I load them up and give a go, I just can't seem to get into it.

I still haven't beat Portal 1 or 2 either, but I honestly do enjoy those two, I just always get stuck on a puzzle and quit.

After these games/chapters updated in my library tonight, I launched HL2 just for grins, and at the main menu it re-registered all of my Steam achievements, a few at a time. What shocked me the most about this was looking at the global stats afterward and seeing how many of them are still at 0.0% for a game this old. Maybe it was nerdy for me to have earned all 69, but I thought that most of them would at least have been in the single digits, percentage wise, by now.

Edit: if you mouse over them in the library, they're actually reporting 0.1%.
Edit again: it looks as though the global stats have updated further, and the zeroes at the bottom of the list are gone... still quite low for a lot of them, though.

Still, the real star of the show has to be the mods. The community is absolutely cracked just like the HL1 community was.
I've had HL2 since forever ago through Anthology which means it received/had NO updates.
Was probably on XP and a Pentium 4 when I first played. Vista/7/2008 and Phenom II X4 last run.
It's a really good game for stream. Lots of people are nostalgic for it and it's super comfy.

I must have everything HL related, except Alyx and clearly remember buying the HL2 disc in 2004, then later discovering that most of the game needed to be downloaded through a weird portal called Steam.
At the time I lived in the Spanish outback with no Internet or power, except solar panels. I tried to connect and download with GPRS on a Nokia 6310 but the data cost was crazy.
I later found a friend with 5mbps Internet, took my PC to his gaff to d/l, rushed home, fired up the Pentium 4 and was immediately drawn into the story. I've been playing it ever since in one form or another.

I actually picked up HL2 when it first released. Got it in a collector box from Game Stop.......If I recall correctly.

Still have the original box, disks, and books that came with it.

5mbps in 04 was crazy, I was likely on 256kbps or 512kbps if I was lucky :eek:
