Alphacool Eisbecher Plexi Tube 60x105mm cracking?? wtf

man i just noticed my loop was leaking and looks like the acrylic glas is literly cracking. second time to.. gotten a new replacement part back in 2022.. wats going on???

Both mine are cracked too, but haven't leaked yet. Pretty common with tubes. Something about the warm water in contrast to the ambient temp causes it? It was explained to me once and I don't remembers exactly. Just fill the gap with glue.

i was thinking could it not be the weight of the pump and resovair on the support bracked making the acrylic crack???

Mine has small cracks on the middle of the tube, can't even feel them on a fingernail though.

edit: Mine is from 2018 if that matters.

Dunno. This kind of failure in a component meant to convey heat in only 2 years sounds like bad engineering to me.

Well every tube from every brand has cracked on me over the last 20 years. Needs to be much thicker or it will continue to happen. Same goes with Distroplates if they are thin, it cracks. *Cough Bitspower Cough*. My solution is just to seal the crack with glue.

I figured it was common thing from your first post. My statement was for the market in general.
(Then again, one would be hard pressed to find any product that doesn't break after a week of use these days...)

I'd just switch the reservoir. Going to get an Alphacool Eisstation for that DDC pump as it's way more compact than the Eisbecher.

just had contact with alphacool they said probaly damaged by the cooling agent i used.. flushed, just right now flushed the system with demi water and replaced the leaking part

I cracked my res in a similar fashion years ago. Was told them that it had to do with pressure because I didnt leave enouair air to be compressed so it took it out on the next weakest thing in the loop.

Top on the reservoir so not a single drop of water has came out, and I don't have the loop so full that it would even happen.

Though now I'm on aircooling for temporiraly since I'm going to get a smaller reservoir/pumphousing as the Eisbecher is just too big, and it doesn't allow using hardtube fittings as they're too wide.

Essentially, the fix was to fill the loop a bit less. I would assume a pressure release would do it's thing and help relieve pressure. I just removed some coolant when I replaced the res and it didn't crack.

Cracking around the threads like that can happen over time if it's overtightened which is easy to do with acrylic. It also looks to have a pretty coarse thread which makes it even more prone to cracking.

FWIW I've had good luck with my Bitspower Z-Multi res, ~8 years and not even the slightest crack.

I think it's just the inevitable consequence of thin plastic, I use a distro plate, the walls are way thicker, unlikely it could ever crack and leak under normal use.
