Nice device.

I read today on a "deal" that smaller screens at 60Hz are sold for around 60€. I have not checked myself.

That is unacceptable for that price point. Not even a 30€ screen from the factory before assembly should have such values.

Feedback to a section of the review:

I checked around 20-30 different SCHUKO WIFI Wlan measuring plugs the homepages and documentation. None had any measuring accuracy which any cheap multimeter or other measuring device has.
All in common no measuring accuracy - no datasheet - only 2.4Ghz WIFI
I want to buy such a measuring wifi schuko device myself. I see on a page kinda often a "deal" for such a device with different brading. Usually in packs of 4, 2 or 1 device. None - really none has any calibration or measuring accuracy from the manufacturer. Once I bothered asking the customer support via email. The result they can not provide that information.

I've used the Meross MSS315 Matter Smart Wi-Fi Plug and the accompanying mobile app to determine the monitor's power consumption at various brightness levels ...

May I ask: You measure something. How is the measuring accuracy of that device? Maybe the accuracy is provided per paper in the product itself.
If you can not provide any measuring accuracy - I suggest you remove that section completely!

My clampmeter / temperature probe / different multimeters have all paper manuals with all the measuring ranges and measuring accuracy.

I used to hate this class of device as they were always sold on the novelty of portability which meant they could get away with abysmal low-quality panels.

In recent years we've seen actually competent displays with acceptable gamut, accuracy, and motion performance. I can't imagine they're of much interest to people with gaming laptops, as it's likely very similar to the 15.6-17.3" primary display they already have - but I can definitely see these being the sort of thing you throw into a suitcase alongside a bluetooth keyboard and mouse if you have a Steam Deck, Ally, or Legion Go. It turns those things into a true laptop. Hell, you could even use your phone these days for some productivity and those typically run at 120Hz now.

$270 isn't a bargain, but it's pretty reasonable considering the performance, resolution, and VRR support. I'm inner-monologue debating with myself why I shouldn't be impulse-buying something like this right now...

I can confirm it does have VRR when used through the USB-C port (DP Alt Mode).

I have hard time figuring out the use case for these....obviously a laptop already has a display....so why would you need a portable monitor? I suppose if you like a big display, you could get an 18" display and a 13" laptop....but lugging that around seems worse than just buying an 18" laptop. I suppose you could hook up a mini PC to it, but then that would limit where you could use it since you would need an electrical outlet. I just can't think of a good use case that isn't some sort "temporary fix", i.e. your laptop display broke and you can't afford a new laptop, but you can afford $200 for a portable monitor, and obviously applications like that probably can't warrant an entire class of device to be in mass production.....maybe someone can help here.

It answers the same question as "Why do you need a second or third display for your PC (regardless if its a laptop or desktop)?" Desktop real estate, especially if you're working or playing on the go. It's aimed at those who need more screen space, even if you have a 17.3" or 18" laptop already.
