P8z77-I shut down issue and sleep issue

The computer works excellent with Windows 10 Pro however it won't shut down or sleep. I have tried everything I can think of but nothing works to solve the problem. Anyone please help.

Going to need more info. please fill out your system specs in profile. What does it do upon being told to shutdown or sleep? Have you tried shutdown /p in elevated command prompt?

Probably bios needs an update and reset to defaults, and fastboot might need to be disabled

Certainly sounds plausible. A good place to start. I would add I've seen chipset drivers (or lack there of) cause similar behavior.

Please explain what this means in more detail. You say it won't shut down. Does that mean when you go through the Start menu and select "Shut down", it won't?

I agree we need you to fill our your TPU System Specs.

I remember Windows back then having a message of It's Now Safe To Turn off Your Computer, oh the Physical Hard switch AT/XT Days. If that user gets that message his OS was misconfigured

I will say that back when I had my 2500k in my main computer, with a P8Z68-V motherboard, I had it overclocked at 5Ghz and everything was stable but sleep was always quirky to the point where I simply left my computer on all of the time. I assumed that it was a side-effect of the overclock but never really cared enough to investigate further.

But what do you mean when you say that it won't shut down? Do you just mean that at the very end of the shutdown routine it simply sits at a black screen without actually turning off? I've had that happen on a few computers before also over the years. After a certain amount of time, it's okay to simply flip the switch on your PSU or hold your power button down for 4 seconds. The main purpose of "shutting down" is to close all in-progress operations first, and anything relevant would have closed by that point.

When I hit shutdown from the desktop it seems to but the chassis fan keeps running, can't tell if the chip fan shuts down. Then in order to wake it or shut it down, I need to force it down by the power button then turn it back on.

I've had this happen on some setups in the past, something to do with the bios. Try disabling (or enabling) Fast Startup, that usually "fixed" it for me.

I had exact the same problem.
Nothing worked, so i was ready to turn off the PC with PSU switch after turn off in Windows
But when i put the MoBo to PC case, it turns off without problems.
