Hello, Im pretty new with building a new system for Gaming and just started to look into hardware.
I would be grateful if someone can tell me, if the system Im currently thinking of is good for 4k Gaming and more importantly if it works together nicely.

Thats what I found so far. For storage, power supply and fans I dont really know what I should choose and would do some reseaeches later.

Monitor: Dell Alienware aw3225qf
Case: Lian Li 011 Vision Midi Tower
MoBo: Asus Rog Strix x870e
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d
GPU: RTX5090
Ram: Corsair Vegeance 2x16 6000MHz CL28
Air Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140

For me personally 2tb of Storage should be enough and Im tending towards Samsung 990 pro.
Power supply will be most likely 1000w to 1200w but I dont know which one.
Fans should just do their job. RGB is nice to have.

Can I have a good air flow with the case ? I would have like 6 fans with air flowing in and 2 for air flowing out.

I thank you for reading and maybe helping me out ! If you have any questions or didnt understand something, feel free to ask me !

PS: Sry for any grammar mistakes. Im not a native english speaker.

A case with three intake will be fine. I've used cases with three 140mm front and never had issues like the 903 Max.

If you're dumping upwards of $4k on a build I'd get something better than a $50 air cooler, if only for better fans.

Noctua comes to mind, or a fan swap.

For PSU look at HWBusters.

Okay, ty ! How are the other components ? Is the MoBo okay or maybe too much ?
Asus Rog Strix x870a or e good or maybe something different ? I heard someone say, that the ASrock Taichi should be a good MoBo.

The only issue with that is that the Peerless Assassin is the best/price to performance Air cooler there is. Buying Noctua would just be PC porn. If you already spending that much why spend more than you have to?

Depends on whether or not you want better flexibility. The X870E Taichi is the only board in the lineup that supports X8X8 on the PCIe lanes. The X870E Strix does not even have a 2nd PCIe slot is connected to the CPU and it is only wired at x4.

You picked the best Gaming CPU, and the soon to be absolute best GPU, so if that system can not do 4K, not others can. ;)

Concerning the cooler, do not listen to people saying its only a 50 dollar one, its actually one of the best. Personnally I went for the Noctua NH-d15 G2 because I simply love Noctua but you can't go wrong with the one you picked, its been tested over and over and performance are in the absolute top of aircoolers.

Not a big fan of the Mobo, I think the Asrock ones are better, I personnally pick the x870e phantom NOVA and I'm very happy with my choice, the Taichi ofc is also very good. If you plan on using multiple SSD's, the Asrock ones are the only ones who do not use lane sharing, along the MSI Godlike, which costs an arm.

Ahh okay thanks ! I read about it that the Peerless Assassin one of the best air cooler for the price is.

Would you recommend the asrock x870e nova or taichi ?

Okay !! Thank you very much for your reply !
I just want to play my games at 4k like Monster Hunter Wilds, Path of Exile 2, Witcher 4, Cyberpunk and other games that will come out.

If I can I would safe as much money as possible. The Rog Strix cost in my country nearly 200€ more than for example the Nova, which is as good as the Rog Strix. These 200€ could be spent for other parts.

Yeah, I read about the lane sharing and need to dig a bit deeper to really understand it.

What about RAMs ? Something to consider ?

Oh really ? Then Im more than relief, that my choice is a good one. Do you mind to tell me which case you are using and how the air flow is ? I really like the designe of the Lian Li 011 Vision but dont know, if the air flow is enough to keep it cool.

For the Ram, personnally I picked 2x32GB Gskill trident Z neo DDR5 6000, 64GB might seem overkill but I just wanted maximum confort when multitasking but for pure gaming you'll be fine with 32 GB I think.

Lane sharing means that when using multiple SSD's, depending on the motherboard, some lanes will be "stolen", or shared, by the PCI express slot, used by the graphics card. AMD requires X870 board to have USB4, which reduces the number of direct lanes available for other connections, so some manufacturers came with lane sharing.

Edit : oh yea, and for the Ram, really no need for uber fancy ddr5 8000, regular ddr5 6000 is enough, practically no difference.

If you want to save money, don't play at 4k. The jump up from 1440p is costly and with anything current in this hobby performance is expensive.

I might get the same one as you. Do I have to consider lower CL ? Like CL28 ? Or is there no difference ?

I picked some CL30 because DDR5 6000 CL30 are said to be the most optimum for Ryzen processors.

Nah I want to play at 4K but dontneed to spent more than I have to
4k is fine. I play at 4K and my rig is a 7900XT/7900X3D. Every single review uses 4K Ultra but high is just as good visually once you are at 4K. Just like how 1080P looks blocky once you go to 1440P. The same thing occurs at 4K. Games are also starting to use more CPU power and what is the point of having a 24GB frame buffer if you are going to be at 1440P if the CPU can now access the entire VRam with SAM. Might as well get a 4080S/7900GRe. In the real world GPU features are what breaks down at 4k so RT would suffer bu it would not surprise me if the 5090 can handle that and 4K fine.

If you don’t require a ton of storage and or will be using more than just a single slot for the GPU, x870 Tomahawk seems to be a nice balance of features vs price.

For memory you want the lowest CL you can get if you’re not going to be tuning memory. Dual rank (2x32gb, 2x48gb) are generally harder to run on AM5 and you MIGHT have some issues running them. 48GB (2x24) kit can be a good compromise, and or generally sticking to anything from the QVL list for whichever motherboard you pick.

NH-D15 g2 or whatever the new version is, is the biggest waste of money. Pick up a thermalright assassin if you’re going to air cool the CPU. If you want an AIO theres no beating the Arctic III aio coolers for the price.

Apparently 9000 is much better at supporting 2x32GB and up modules.

You are willing to drop £2.5K+- on the yet unreleased 5090 but throwing a paltry 32GB RAM in the same build  at least go for 64GB which will be better for longevity for a build of this kind, also 2TB NVME.... really? get at least a 4TB, AAA games are in the 150GB+ space now and don't be surprised to see them start to get upto 200GB fairly soon, also consider the 9950x3D when it is released which would be a much better pairing with your £2.5k GPU otherwise you will find yourself having to upgrade further down the line, seems no point in limiting yourself early on when obviously build cost isn't an issue for you, if it is then consider the 5080 or even a 4090 when the 5000 series drops, but as you have explicitly stated it will be a 5090 then don't skimp on other parts of the build if you don't have to

Absolutely get a DP 2.1 display. Wait if you have to.
The O11 Air Mini is just a better case for air cooling.
Others are probably right about 48 or 64GB of memory and a 4TB drive.
I'd wait to see how power spikes look on a 5090 and decide a PSU from there.

First things first. I can always upgrade to more storage if I need it.
Im not sure about 64gb Ram. Most Games dont even utilize 32gb, not even 16gb.
The same goes for the 9950x3D. The CPU Im getting right now should be more than enough for the 5090.
Im willing to pay alot, yes, but Im not willing to waste more money than I need to. We dont even know how much the 5090 will cost.
Maybe Im missing some points here and I welcome every good meant tipp.

I got the Alienware aw3225qf. As far as I know it has DP 1.4 and I dont really want to wait to much. Monster Hunter Wilds Release is set for the end of february.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
Ahh okay thanks ! I read about it that the Peerless Assassin one of the best air cooler for the price is.
indeed, i have the Peerless Assassin 120 and Noctua only has only one thing higher than it ... the price  i don't mind Noctua fans (humans  ) and their loyalty, but it feel a little misplaced, given the number of cheaper brand that go toe to toe or even beyond them (heck even the TR Phantom Spirit 120 Evo is quite close to a 140mm NH-D15 G2 while having a price 100$ lower :D )

for the rest well ... a 9800X3D and a RTX 5090 well that's some future proofing (tho the 5090 is a tad overkill imho and will probably be overpriced, indeed 4k$ and most likely more than half of it will be the GPU :D ) ... tho i would say go for 64gb instead of 32 ;) i did go from 32 to 64 i never regretted it

PSU i would wait the 5090 review to decide on a PSU (but you can go along something like Seasonic, SuperFlower or even EVGA ) or on an other GPU (who knows maybe the next gen there will be a 4k worthy midranger ) fans well Arctic with the P12/14 line is the best price/perf bargain

you could also try a monitor that go to 2560x1440p that can overpixel to 2880x1620p like mine (although a high refresh rate model ... 1440p75 was fine but it can't do more than 60 in 1620p)
but that's a personal preference of mine, since i think that 4k is not ... necessary under 40" screens (even tho i could play at 4k with my rig )

ah...
Nah I want to play at 4K but dont need to spent more than I have to
well, nevermind ...

it's already looking good imho

On the memory question, I've only had one use-case where I even came close to 32GB (and I came extremely close, enough to warrant me upgrading to 64GB). This is anecdotal, but just one account. I was playing Ark Survival Ascended while also running a server instance on the same computer. My CPU was handling it just fine, but I was using 95% of my memory lol. So now I have 64GB. I don't know of any other game that would require as much at the moment, but I can't say what the next few years brings. It doesn't feel like too long ago that I was explaining to people how Vista (64-bit) runs fine if you have 4GB of memory, but less than that and you'll have issues. The files just keep getting bigger lol

You will need more storage, 2TB won't last you long with Windows 11, programs and AAA games etc
A lot of games will take you over 16GB RAM at 4k easily, not only that, will you be be having a browser open, twitch, discord, streaming etc? it is always better to have more RAM than not enough, 32GB is going to be cutting it sooner or later
"More than enough" I mean I guess so but if I'm building a £4k gaming rig I want the best of the best, 9800x3D is no doubt a kick ass gaming CPU, more threads for doing more things in the background and feeding a 5090 would be ideal to ensure you are not bottlenecking the GPU
The 5090 will be at least £2.5k, you must know this, maybe more, which is a weird choice as it hasn't even been released yet but you are basing your build on it, as I previously said maybe consider the 5080 or get a decent price on a 4090 if price is a consideration, though saying it will be a 5090 build you must know this will command a price premium, hence my other suggestions

Apparently 9000 is much better at supporting 2x32GB and up modules.
It's an identical IO die, so no. In fact both the 9800X3D TPU tested had worse RAM OC than 7800X3D.
