Folding Pie and Milestones!!

Right, for once this weekend, I'm going to get the damn updates done before 1am Here we go for the 7th December 2024!!

Well there we are... Holy heck we have smashed through 100 million points today which is unbelievable and completely awesome at the same time!! Massive well done to everyone taking part in todays contribution!! I'm also very happy to see 15 members taking the time to help out with us as well, love that!!

I was having a look on the Extreme site I use for the stats, I was wondering, just how we compare to some of the other teams there and wow was I massively surprised with some of the other contributions.... Here's the top 50 for today...

We are ranked at 38.... LinusTechTips team is 1st place with over 3 billion points A DAY!! But, that said, they do have so the screen grab tells me over 1350 users contributing the team... I mean 3rd place is even more amazing to me, they have over 8220 users and they managed just over 1.84 billion points for the day nearly... I mean, the averages per user are mindboggling....

LinusTechTips - 1350 users - 3.03 billion points total = 2,244,444 points per user
Banano - 8220 users - 1.84 billion points total = 223,844 points per user

Now, this got me thinking as well, what is ours like?? So just for giggles......

TPU - 15 users - 88 million points total = 5,866,666 points per user

Now, forgive me for saying this, but we are fecking awesome!! I mean, an average per user we are over double, nearly at triple the points of LinusTechTips team.... If we had that many of people able to contribute.... I mean... Just holy hell We'd be smashing the top 5 every day!! I mean I love hearing about what people actually user for their folding so I think its time we maybe put up a giveaway for the best all round Folding/Crunching PC as well as the general giveaways we are thinking about.... What do you guys and gals think??

But, I do just wish to say a massive shout out to everyone here at TPU I'm just in awe of you all helping the team and the causes we contribute too... Utter mad respect to you all!!

It's great to have some new members to the team and hopefully we can boost up our numbers a little more, I'd like to give TPU a good push with the folding and crunching teams, I know its been a little hard of late with WCG being so up and down but the folding has been very constant and that's amazing to see the dedication to TPU

Well after being a bit delayed with the last few days of updates, (gotta love Top Gear the original series, have been re-watching the series!! My bad.....) but here we are for the FAH Pie Stats for the 11th December 2024!!

And there we are, wow!! In a short word, wow!! @neurotix is out to kick some cancer butt I think!! Outstanding!! And that's just one card at the moment?? I'd love to be able to afford the electric for it never mind the card!!

My farm consisted of 14x 9600GSO/8800GS spread across 4 mobo's and the electrical usage and heat were unbearable.

Thought I would share the EOC stats from November 2008. It was a different game back then...

This was really cool to see, thanks for sharing. I'm familiar with all the hardware, but didn't start building my own systems til 2010 and they were low end due to income.

I was in the Team Competition on OCN back when it was really active and had two divisions with 10 teams each. I folded on a 6870 for a year straight (8000 ppd) and got a postbit for it, that got me my first million.

I have to reference other members screenshot links that are still active. Techpowerup wiped 99% of the pic's that they were hosting, so only outside sources still exist. Kinda sucks to lose 95% of the pics in the Folding Rigs Gallery....

That's horrible. I am losing around 100 pictures of graphic design I did in albums on ExtremeHW when it goes down on the first.

I still have the graphics and original files in my Home folder, just nowhere to really put them with that site down.

They were screenshots from TPUCapture. TPU also hosted forum pics to avoid outside links. The lost pics were a mix of both. Gotta ask W1zz if there is any salvaging them.

With TPU the number of people taking part has dropped down somewhat over the time I've been doing the captain bit.. Sometimes there's not been many contributing and for doing Foldathons and such, even the similar things with WCG, there's not ever been a massive interest as such but I've ended the team in to various tasks or challenges and we've always done very well for our limited numbers I think its more of a electric cost for a lot of people now and that said, with the sheer cost of hardware and such, I bet people are a little warey maybe to do things just in case anything goes wrong. I can completely understand why people do or don't involve themselves with the teams we have for folding and crunching, so with the amazing ones we do have, I do try to get some interest with giveaways and such, but again, when the 'market' is a little smaller here at TPU, I'm not sure I can really do masses and I can't give everyone a shiny bit of hardware

The last three or so Foldathons we have done at EHW have had under 10 participants and some immediate clear winners once it starts (not me )

We (@damric and I) are going to be trying to bring as many people from EHW as we can to these forums. Some of them know how to do the coding for the monthly stats tracking and host it externally. Even if they aren't willing to do that here, they could possibly show you/teach you how. It really is a great way to bring everyone together once a month for two days to see how many points we can collectively do, and I could possibly put up prizes (I did for EHW). Damric offered prizes sometimes too.

Electricity is cheap where I live so I can fold 24/7 on my OCed 4090 in Linux, and its in an 1100 sq ft finished basement with an ambient of 65f so there's no worrying or suffering from the heat. I definitely understand and agree with you about electric prices over the pond though.

The monthly foldathon was something I really looked forward to at EHW and will be sorely missed since the site is going down on the 1st.

Please give some more consideration to it, also I did a lot of graphic design for EHW so if you wanted to do Foldathons here I can make fancy, professional looking banners to go at the top of the thread.

I know I am the new guy so forgive me if all this is out of line for a new member, I just really loved doing the foldathons at EHW.

If you can get one at a decent price, a GTX260 (216SP) is a great folder. It may not be not the most energy efficient, but it is very effective nonetheless. The following list is based on a 384pt Nvidia WU:

9800GTX (6000 PPD)
8800GTS 512 (5800 PPD)

*PPD based on highest stable overclocks. Shaders are the primary overclock for F@H.
