TPU's F@H Team

What distro? Weird, I obviously use Cinnamon, and I thought it run under Wayland now too. Flatpak doesn't work under Wayland? I guess Cinnamon doesn't either.
Nvidia will eventually support Wayland, but it's not their priority right now. I have Flatpak running no issues. From my google searches, it seems to be a Wayland protocol issue. It's a dedicated folding rig, so whatever Debian OS that will run GWE will work. Mint still natively supports X.org. Switching to Mint Cinnamon tonight.

Nice! Reinstalling Linux is pretty tedious for me, as I have to reinstall a firewall script, set up samba (I use this to stream media to Raspberry Pis with Kodi), set up my fancy conky script, and a bunch of other stuff. My rig is in Linux 99% of the time and I only use Windows for gaming which I never do lately. It's dual purpose folding and house server. I admire that you can just dump your Linux and reinstall it just to get one program to work. Please post screenshots or otherwise post your power draw according to GWE on your 4080 once you have it set up!

Hey @BUCK NASTY ,

@thebluebumblebee PM sent. Thanks for the heads up!:rockout:

Edit: Card got sold before I could act. No worries, as I would prefer a Gigabyte Windforce V2 due to the orientation of the power connector.

@BUCK NASTY I think you may be right about the power draw. I just checked a work unit that GWE claimed was using 350w steady, but my kill-a-watt meter said 600w total for the system. So I paused folding, and checked the idle wattage of my system (mind you I have a 16 core chip overclocked to 5850MHz) and the idle wattage on the kill-a-watt meter was 200-230. So I think that work unit might actually be drawing 400 watts or more, not 350 that GWE said.

Hey @BUCK NASTY did you get Linux installed and GreenWithEnvy working, or not yet?

Yes, got Mint Cinnamon installed Wednesday Night. After battling with Xorg files, finally got GWE running Thursday morning. Threw a 200mhz OC on the card and went folding. Saw about 20w more of draw at the most with the OC. GWE states a 302w draw on the toughest WU's(100% GPU usage). It's hard to verify with the Kill-a-Watt due to the CPU idling down on pause, but I'm seeing a total system decrease of 390w when I pause folding. System normally maxes out at 470w. Btw, swapped back in the FX-9590 for more PPD due to the higher clocks. Card maxed out at 23.6M on 16525 WU.

Got 3 failed WU's during last night. Don't know if due to OC, but reset to stock for now as I research the instability.

Cool, glad you got it working.

Regarding the failed WUs, try backing off to 170. (I know you have a 4080 not a 4090 but 170 works for me).

Hello TPU Folding and Crunching Team. We are giving away two complete rigs in Kreij's memory. Check out the link and enter the drawing if you qualify. They could be a nice little addition to your stable.

Hey guys, having a problem with my folding.

If you look at my EOC stats for the team, it's showing no points posted at all since I switched back from the EHW team. However, on the teams EOC page: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=50711

It's showing me as the top producer.

I am not at home but have both a 4090 and a 3060 running and I am using the v8 client and both machines are active and posting work units.

Why are my EOC stats not working properly?

No idea. Very likely some silly/stupid thing that all of us have done.

It's showing your (7 day) average in all three places as the same, and 21 million still puts you on top.

You are showing over 20 million on HW. They are still folding

Yeah, strange. I wonder what's up with my EOC page. Maybe it'll update the days all at once or something. Bizarre.

Thanks for the timely replies too.

F@H has registered a WU from you in the last 39 minutes.

Grabbed a open box RTX 4090 from Best Buy tonight. Gotta throw together the naked mining rig to house the 4080 and 4090. Should have it up and running by Tuesday sometime.:rockout:

Please do grace us with some photos over in the FAH gallery!! :D I am starting to think that my 3090 might have to be upgraded a little bit.... But I don't have £2000+ to throw away on a GPU  Oh well, I'll have to look at everyone else's and be in awe that way instead :D

Looks in awe of Phils 3090. Oh well. We do what we can do. Gratz on the score Buck!! Man it is great to see the participation in chat and folding once again.

My RTX 4090 upgrade is postponed for a week. The Best Buy 4090 was bricked(shocker...), so I returned it. Ordered up another 4090 on ebay and have to get rigs organized before it arrives. Let me add that it is absolutely the worst time to find affordable RTX 40xx cards. It's a total s#1tshow out there.

Unless you posted elsewhere, I believe this is your 5000th post good sir. Congrats!

My 7900XTX was pumping out close to 8M ppd at 350W, I will be interested to see what your numbers are with that beast. CUDA makes a hell of a difference

Oh if he overclocks it with GWE in Linux, he'll be averaging 30m-35m actual points a day with a power draw of 350-400w.

Take a look at my stats to get an idea.

What WUs are you getting?

I have started looking into CUDA to Rocm/CL software, the results from.some projects is promising in performance uplift, still not what NV cards are capable of, but doubling the performance on some workloads.

I have no idea what units I am getting. Been busy benching for Hwbot all day. Sorry I can't be of help.

I just learned that even though newer networking hardware may support Jumbo frames over 9000 many web servers do NOT.

If anyone is getting a EOF or connection error make sure to set you Jumbo frames to 9000 or less.
