Finally got around to playing Fort Solis. Yes, it's an interactive walking sim of a sort with QTE's. However, it has a compelling story, top-level graphics, and superb voice acting from Troy Baker and Roger Clark. Between the story, visuals and voice acting, I feel like I am there on Mars. Made by a ten person dev team in 2 years.

It's not for everyone at normal price, but at its 50% off price on Steam and GOG right now (till Dec 18 and Dec 19th respectively), I think it's worth it.

If you like walking sim games, play Firewatch. It is a short game, but for the few hours it lasted me, it was super immersive and the story was well-written. Get it on the next Steam sale if you don't have it.

Back when it first came out in early access I pulled an all-nighter with some friends. Crazy experience, was super fun. Haven't touched it since though, been probably around 2, maybe 3 years? I've been thinking of that game recently, though. It didn't have single-player mode back then, and due to time zones and life schedule, we never managed to get a second one in.

With today being the end of Forza Horizon 4 in terms of being able to buy it, this rekindled my interest. I bought it on Steam months ago and completely forgot that I also got all the DLCs :)
Lego is a real blast as is Fortune Island.

Fancy a bit of insight? Performance, gameplay mechanics so far?
On my sig rig it runs well. The boss monsters are brutal, it should really be played with someone but I just prefer sp.
I also play with wasd + mouse for aiming as left click for movement and attack made my character move in on the enemy.

The first thing that annoyed me is the lack of distance from character; the camera can't zoom out far enough so it kinda feels like a 1080p screen. You get used to it but I just came from Jagged Alliance which gives you massive overview of a map (I know it isn't the same type of game).

I did experience a crash but I'm investigating if that was hardware related or game. To be continued.

2021 Game yeah. They just released some DLC. I play this and sometimes Zero Hour which is kinda similar except other style and less future proof engine..

5 years ago (or close to it) I never finished Control. Since I'm playing my backlog, Control got installed again. Only, I appear to have lost my saves in that time period. So I am starting from the beginning. It's just as well, I would have been lost trying to jump back in. And bonus, this time I can play it with all the gee wiz RT settings I couldn't turn on the first time. Been averaging about 90fps. I guess I'll be on this awhile, although I will likely alternate playing another game as well.

I bought FH4 on Steam even though I've been playing it on day one on Xbox (I bought it on Steam so I could play it on my Deck). The map is much better than FH5 in my opinion, but I do think that the cars sound better in FH5. On the other hand, FH4 has a lot of cars that FH5 doesn't have. Where's my Kia Stinger GT, FH5? On the subject of cars that I want in FH5, how about the '04 Mercedes C32 AMG?

Oh, did I have fun with that game. Haven't tried any of the recent DLC's though, I'll get around to it. It's come a long way, much more polished in recent times.

It's only stupid if your not going to need/use it. Realistically 48GB/64GB of RAM is the upper end of what general consumers will need unless doing something very specific. If you don't need it, but you're hitting your 32GB limit, get a 16GB or 32GB kit and call it good. I'd lean you toward an additional 16GB kit for a total of 48GB as that would be good for most tasks, gaming included.. Unless you're gaming at 4K or do professional type work.

I agree, although I never bought FH5 because I was playing it on GamePass which I've now cancelled. I can't pinpoint why FH5 didn't grab me, but I still have loads of fun with 3 and 4.
I may pick up 5 if it ever goes on sale at a silly price.

FH4 is by a wide margin the more engaging single player map. At some point you start wishing it had more game modes and directions content went in if you aren't fully aware of every resourceful challenge that was cycled through. What it actually takes to complete some of the DLC stunts and base game challenges the player base discovered come to mind. Terrain on offer is simply more interesting to seasonally cycle through.

Broke down and bought the single DLC packaging all extra content for Yakuza Kiwami 2 to encourage finishing story and mini-games that impact it. Did basically the same for Like a Dragon, only items that improve story mode.

For some reason this was the most amusing addition during the five minutes it took to unpack all the DLC items.

After finishing the "Baba Yaga" dlc of "Rise of the Tomb Raider", I have started playing "Shadow of the Tomb Raider". Unfortunately, my Vega 64 started exhibiting signs of senility so I had to bring my 290X out of retirement until I buy a new GPU. As for the game itself, I dislike the return of some quick time events à la the 2013 reboot.

I'm not a Lego fan, but smashing Lego in FH4 is great fun!

Sounds like I need to try out the Lego section in FH4, haven't gone there yet.

Currently: Hellblade (original), Plague Tale Innocence, Last of Us P1.

When I get stuck at a spot in one I'll fire up one of the others. Currently stuck in TLoU in a stealth section, I'll get thru eventually.

The first thing that annoyed me is the lack of distance from character; the camera can't zoom out far enough so it kinda feels like a 1080p screen. You get used to it but I just came from Jagged Alliance which gives you massive overview of a map (I know it isn't the same type of game).
That's one of the main reasons I'm asking in the first place. I didn't like how the protagonist is too zoomed in, leaving kinda narrow camera angle and overall view distance. The other one (reason) is because I saw so many micro stutters in the dev video, I was instantly shocked. We don't really need another stutterfest, and especially in an action game.
Keep us updated, cheers.

For what it's worth, "too zoomed in" was pretty much standard in the first PoE, by design. They intended for the player to draw aggro from offscreen, to ratchet up the intensity. Not surprising that they're continuing that for the sequel.

Can't comment on microstutter, haven't touched it yet. But I do trust that the devs know what they're doing, and that it will be on their fix list. Looking briefly at where they are in the process, they're probably at least six months from release. If I was a betting man, I'd say 9-12 months. I bought into the beta for the first game, and I'll probably do so again... but not until springtime at the earliest.
