And what about consoles with AMD gpus ? There are no nvidia....
I expect some console exclusive titles and console ports will run and look better on AMD gpus than the games devs won't bother doing anything at all.
And its not like devs even care about anything but Nvidia gpus, implementation of FSR is terrible in some Nvidia sponsored games.

And what about consoles with AMD gpus ? nvidia does not make gpus for consoles ?
They do supply gpus for the switch and rumors say for switch 2 as well.

Yes CD Project Red is doing that for CP2077 but in reality MS now owns most Gaming studios and the Xbox1 is AMD so. There is even anecdotal data that this is already happening with the narrative about Console ports sucking when 7000 series owners were too busy enjoying them to notice. It was even better when the narrative had a flame up because a Game Dev said that DLSS would not be available at launch. Meanwhile in the real World CP2077 have announced Nvidia Exclusive features from before that Game launched.

Show me how you can officially play Super Mario on your PC? The Switch will get Games from the others. Not other way around. Nintendo Games do not move the space as most PC enthusiasts see Nintendo for kids. The Switch is an entertainment device.

That was never the intention of my comment. He asked if there are consoles with an nvidia gpu. And the switch has pretty good sales numbers and the games NEED to be optimized so the toaster (a switch) doesn't explode.

Also:

Isn't gaming also "entertainment"? Or does a PC/XBOX/PS elevate the experience to another level?

I apologize for conflating your talking point.

Summarily yes, for me. I just finished Round 4 of my GT3 Gen 2 Championship in AMS2 and the car models are spectacular, it also feels good getting over 200 FPS at 4K and my Daughter loves the Switch.

The thing is that most people game on a Playstation or Xbox. PC is mainly for competitive players and oldschool dudes / tinkerers who can't be bothered with a controller, like myself.

I don't think the discrete graphics card market share data includes console GPUs, which are undeniably important.

Tbh I am not that old (mid twenty's) and I am also always astonished how many play over/on console. I really like the keyboard + mouse combo. I always fought with tooth and nail against controller, they just felt wrong. (Other than the Wii-Remote + Nunchuck, that felt good for some reason) But lately I warmed up to a controller, they don't have to be bad. The kk3 max is pretty good, but not flawless.

Either way, yes consoles are important to the data but how would you count them? Technically Nvidia won this as well.

The Switch sold around 140 Million times
While the PS5 & XBOX series X have a combined sales number of 80 Million.

LOL, Microsoft own most gaming studio is probably the most outrageous statement I have ever heard

BTW Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is made by Bethesda and it has full Nvidia softwares suite + Path Tracing (I'm playing it right now, great game)

7000 series owners are so few it barely registered on Steam Hardware Survey, only 7700XT and 7900XTX show up (RX 7000 account for less than 1%, meanwhile RTX 4000 account for 23% of Steam hardware survey)

I wouldn't buy Nvidia because I'm on Linux now, and AMD's support is simply better (no proprietary drivers, everything runs from the kernel). I can't put up with Microsoft's forced bullshit anymore.
I've been daily driving their open source modules for months now without any issues, fwiw.
It'll be quite some time until it gets upstreamed tho (if it ever gets to this point).
But like you, I understand if someone chooses Nvidia for one reason or another. The only thing I don't understand is when people choose Nvidia (or Windows for that matter) only because they falsely believe that there is no other option to game on.
I mostly chose Nvidia because CUDA, ROCm is pretty much a joke still (even though it has been improving) and I need to get work done.
If Intel came with a 32GB GPU at a reasonable price, I could give it a try and maybe even replace my 2x3090s, but I doubt such product will exist. AMD has nice hardware, but lacks SW support. Intel has really nice SW support, but lacks the HW to make use of it, so Nvidia it is with their outrageous prices due to the lack of competition.

Then I take my hat off to you, welcome to the "no controller for me thanks" group. :)

Having said that, I do own a Playstation 2, a PSP, and I'm getting a Steam Deck for Christmas, but I don't think of any of them as my primary gaming device.

Since I mentioned it, don't forget about the Steam Deck and all other handheld consoles that all have AMD APUs in them. Besides, it's not about winning and losing. You don't have to sell more than the competition. You just have to sell enough to be lucrative. 80 vs 140 mil isn't too bad in that regard.

Have a Deck as well. Was the device that warmed me up to an controller. Personally prefer keyboard most of times still, escpially in games where you need precision in a way.

Good question... Wait the switch doesn't have a "dedicated" GPU, who made the processor? I was not aware. Thought 1 was an overclocked kitchen appliance and the other two aren't.

Yes I think so as well, surprised that the Xbox sold 20 Million times in the first place. Also these are for gaming for sure, I assume you can't use Excell on one.

Agreed. :)

The Switch has a custom Nvidia Tegra CPU (I think it's ARM-based, but I'm not sure) with a Maxwell IGP in it.

That's a different story. That's why I wouldn't want one, but not that you need a high-end desktop GPU for Excel anyway.

Indeed because they have been doing nothing but making Xbox Games for the last few years right?

Good for Indiana Jones. Does POE2 have path tracing? I guess you are happy with the Game though as that Games seems to have been made for your specific GPU.

Steam Hardware? Of the 5 PCs in my house do you know which one is registered to the Steam Hardware survey? My 3060 based laptop. 7000 is such a misguided GPU. It blows my mind how they score way higher than 6000 on TPU charts but people think that they are no faster.

It may happen if nvidia is overpricing it's gpus and amd this time around stays more aggressive. Critical thing will be how much performance/RT jump from RX 7000 series and also efficiency/power draw is very important. If gpu die size will be small enough they my price it correctly this time around but will see.

I think rocking the boat will mostly come from Sony and Microsoft who are both eager to get their hands on RDNA 4 for their next generation consoles as I've heard.

Because it depends on the game. 7000 is clearly faster in games that are optimised for modern GPU architectures.

Everything is over priced to you lol. People use GPU's for more than just games :)

Critical think will be how much performance/RT jump from RX 7000 series and also efficiency/power draw is very important.

That is the only thing that would even make me consider trying them again. Not really concerned about power draw as I have a 1000w PSU.

They better price it correctly or else they will continue to flounder.

I dunno, people happily bought the overpriced rtx 4060, if the steam hardware surveys are anything to go by. But maybe people are tired of overpriced nvidia gpu's with very little performance increases over previous gen, and I personally think marketing performance increases while using DLSS and frame gen are misleading and should be called a scam. The B580 seems to be selling well so hopefully AMD can be more aggressive with RDNA4.

Microsoft owns a lot of gaming IP, but I wouldn't touch anything from Bethesda unless it was on sale, I've been hearing Indiana Jones is a decent title though.
Also the steam hardware survey isn't the be all end all of a market share indicator, because its completely random. According to the November 2024 Steam hardware survey, AMD has 16.24% of PC video cards, not as bad as the 10% market share claimed by JPR, though I wonder how much of the 16% is from the Steam Deck and other AMD powered handhelds.

Everything is over priced to you lol. People use GPU's for more than just games :)
For me not everything just RTX 4000 series "Pay more to get less" :) And i will defend bleeding underdog AMD/Intel at any cost.

Price is very subjective, and I'd believe anyone claiming they do more than just games if they had an x80 or x90 tier card, since if work is so critical money would be no object to you.
I used nvidia cards for years, but I got tired of the paying more to get less, nvidia shifting everything down a tier in performance yet up a whole price tier. I paid way too much for a 3070Ti during the mining boom days and didn't want to get screwed again by nvidia on a x70 card with just barely enough vram so I decided to give AMD a try, works just fine in my case.
And I might believe the hardcore Nvidia fans if there wasn't constant bashing on AMD while going after anyone not using an nvidia card, if you have to constantly defend yourself convincing others you aren't a hardcore fan, maybe you shouldn't be so fanatical for a graphics card brand that has a near monopoly on the market.

AMD is supposed to rock the boat a little this time around, should be interesting.
I'm quietly waiting for an iGPU with RX6600XT performance.
