Hey everyone it's been a while!
Lately I have been wanting to use some blower fans for a recent project involving very limited cooling space 34mm height and I found these:
Sunon PMB1297PYB1-AY 9733

Now generally there seems to be only two types of blower fans Squirrel cage (This one)
And the other model that's used on laptops.

My question is what are the advantages and disadvantages of these two designs and when should we choose one over the other?

(Do they come in hydraulic sleeve bearing variants besides double ball)?

They are LOUD. Very LOUD.

Arent as efficient moving around as normal fans. Hence why they have to spin real fast and generate a lot of noise.

As for bearings. AFAIK they are only DBB as they are most used in industrial/non-commercial environments where reliability is more important than being deafened.

GPUs of old used to use the same style of squirrel cage cooler and those bearings used to go bad pretty quickly.

I think the 5700XT was the last card from AMD to use the blower style cooler.

You can find MagLevs from Sunon, my preferred bearing. They invented the tech. That won't save you from the noise of high RPMs though. IIRC Sunon advertises its MagLev bearings as Vapor bearings or something like that.

Not sure if they'll have one for your particular use case, but I've used 120mm 3200RPM Sunon MagLevs and love them for everything save noise obviously.
