The Apple isn't perfect but it sure ain't as bad as some seem to think.

If people start to buy their hardware just to immediately wipe Mac OS off the SSD, and instead install Linux, have a great experience it, and also enjoy e.g. playing AAA games that cannot be played in Mac OS, yes, they for sure will consider locking it down. That's just how these soulless mega corporations think. Too many open source projects have ended up that way. Sued, bought up and shut down and developers hired by the company instead, etc.

That pure speculation whatsoever with no reasonable precendent. Intel Macs always had bootcamp without issues, I don't see why they would lock down their current hardware.

Your average layman won't have any interest in using linux, nor they will have a good experience at all. I don't think apple will care about 3% of their userbase installing linux to do other stuff.
And I do say that as a full time linux user who would love a macbook air with full, proper linux support (Asahi is still a long way from a proper daily driver system).

It's meant specifically for Apple silicon, yeah.
