GameTechBench GPU benchmark is already out!

Thank you for your feedback @venturi !

Quite fair.

In fact, you shouldn't worry about performance discrepancies between versions, as the benchmark won't receive important updates that could affect performance after the official release (scheduled around Nvidia's CES), because reviewers may have already started making GPU reviews based on the benchmark. From that moment, performance will need to be maintained to make it comparable with future reviews as well (RTX xx60, for example). Updates after that point could be just bugfixes and/or cosmetic, such as UI updates, new options, or additional information, but they could also involve sponsorships. Therefore, it would be important to make users update the software to view the new logos, for example.

However, in this beta stage, I still don't want a lot of "unofficial" versions circulating. That's why I specified that "killing" old beta versions is specially useful now. In addition, there will be a paid version, so until both versions are perfectly defined, I must keep things under control, at the beginning, at least.

Anyway, there will also be a free/demo "permanent" version (more limited in options or information shown).

Regarding the variety of options, I may add more customizable options in the future if there are enough users to create a large database for each one. For the moment, many options would only fragment the results database, making it less useful.

I hope you like it more now.

Thank you again!
Excellent response, very appreciated

This software thrashes my system..

Dammit.

I must say I'm interested in the Steam release if anything to see how the benchmark may fare under Proton in Linux.

@QuietBob , maybe you are still not seeing the animated menu background (do not know why), but maybe it's now showing a dark grey solid background, could you check it please?
Sadly, there's no difference with the current benchmark (using the link on the first page). Still seeing a solid white background in the main menu. I'm running the latest drivers.

@venturi thank you very much for understanding! Very kind.

@freeagent That's good! hahaha. But you can use the upscaler option to make it more 'enjoyable', if you want. You have a smooth 4070ti!

@wNotyarD Thank you! I'm not familiarized with that, but another user already tried with Linux, If I'm not wrong. You can test it already, if you want (itchio link in first comment).

@QuietBob Thank you Bob. Unfortunately I can't reproduce the issue and I don't understand why it happens to only 2 of you. I will try to search for an alternative in prediction of the issue, even if not being able to replicate.

Thank you all! :)

I do believe you, it's just I'm not that much of an expert setting things through Wine by hand, so I just let Steam or Heroic do everything for me.

Oh, I see! Didn't know that. First time publishing in Steam. Then let's see it when ready!

Stock settings, stock speed on GPU and CPU.

I think I need a new computer. :wtf:

Hahaha maybe for running Ray Tracing maxed out at 4k with an 8 years GPU, yes! :P

Why did you try such a heavy preset?

Ray Tracing may be tanking your performance, as GTX don't have RT cores.
Consuming all you VRAM may be tanking your performance too.

I would test it at QHD (which consumes less than 8GB Vram) and both with and without Ray Tracing. (And I would thank you for those tests!)

You could also test 4k but with the upscaling options, but not sure how much Vram it will take.

As commented yesterday, the new update v0.999 is already available! In the road to release!! (Before new Nvidia 50 GPUs release).

I made some minor changes. Mainly, you will notice a slightly higher scores.

I'm also waiting and making tons of test with the latest version of Unreal, to see if I can update it before release, but it's still quite broken and requires a lot of work arounds so, maybe, I will stay in Unreal 5.3
I tried to run this version today but get this message... this was downloaded from the link in the first page.

Hi @Launcestonian !

It should be working. It would only fail if both time apis (the main one, worldtimeapi.org, and the second one, timeapi.io, if the main one fails) web pages are failing. Maybe it was punctual and would work if you test again?

I can't test it now but I will check tomorrow. Maybe I did any human fault. Apologizes!

Hi @Launcestonian ,

Tested and working as expected here, the very same version. Could you confirm if the error persists, please?

Almost the same system in Fedora Linux with Proton-GE (first Raster, then Ray)

Hi @leonavis , as you are the only Linux user I saw, please, could you redownload the benchmark and test if it now gets the OS as "Linux"? I don't know how you are executing this, I thought this was only compatible with Windows, for the moment. Is that a kind of emulation? Or does it run natively? Just out of curiosity.

In addition you also experienced the extrange white-background-menu issue. Could you check that too, please?

Thank you very much!

Hi!

I'm making the tests in the latests Unreal version. It's a little broken (Unreal), so it requires some tradeoffs, but I think it worth the improvements: slightly better performance and better shadows, mainly.

I also added some rotating fans. Still not available for download, but soon, so you will be able to compare with the current 0.999 version:

Thank you!

New update available!

v0.99a (same URL), and v0.99b (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CMA_bXuO_USgo1S_ye96fFQWSZe26YXz/). They are two different versions of Unreal, with some tradeoffs each, as the newer versions includes some improvements, but it's more broken than the previous one. The main advantage of version "b" is shadow's quality. Just download both and compare yourself! Any feedback is always welcome:

Oh, you can now press "H" during the benchmark to hide the UI and make it more enjoyable!

Next update is coming soon.

Mainly worked in fog improvements, more color grading, and remade some of the cinematics, to be the very final ones:

Working on some additions! This one only for the Pro version.

Yes, it's just fictional data, right now :p It will take real data when connected to Steam. Maybe to be released some days after official release (coming very soon!).

All feedback is always welcome!

Hi all!

GameTechBench is already available in Steam!!: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3309720/GameTechBench/

This is the final version, in the sense it won't receive graphical changes that could affect the performance (so all benchmarks ran from now will be comparable). It will receive other kind of updates, like adding the comparison chart (next week), for example.

In a future, may also exist a version outside Steam, but step by step.

Thank you all for all your help and interest. I hope you like and enjoy it!

Will get it later today and do runs both on Windows and Linux to see how it goes.

I wanted to see if it runs on my no GPU laptop (7730U Vega 8) Main menu doesnt even render

I couldnt change rendering mode either but I'm assuming this is the lowest anyway.

720P - 5FPS :D

I also found ScalabilityGroups settings in ini files so I created my own version of Low settings to give APU a chance. Looks weird with no lighting effects, illumination and shadows
Tweaked settings - 18FPS
