How many are using 24h2? Problems still?

Updated on PC at work. Only one new serious UI flaw appeared but went away after one more reboot: after pressing Win or clicking Start, I couldn't type into the search field, or even paste text there. Two other serious UI flaws remain untouched. (1) I right click on a taskbar icon, then I often have to wait 20 seconds or so for the menu to appear. (2) I search by typing something in file manager's search field, but when I clear that field and stop searching, the address field no longer shows the folder name, and same happens in other open tabs, until I close the window.

No issues here. W10 is fine too mostly, but better HDR support, better multi-monitor support, better app docking, and a better task scheduler all make me prefer W11 to W10.

Some of those are "First world" benefits for sure. Most people don't use HDR, but I have a pair of 240 Hz OLED's that I use daily. Good HDR matters to me, a lot.

Updated my main rig last week and this weekend the three HP ProBook 450 G8 laptops of the Animal shelter without any problems (through the regular Windows Update).
Updating went flawless but did take some time, however.

Only noticed some slight changes (in a positive way) in the TaskManager GUI afterwards, but no issues regarding the functionality of the OS whatshowever (mind it, I'm not a poweruser).

And of course straight after the update there are some security updates :laugh:

I have no issues with 24H2, although I might not be as much of a power user as most people seeing issues, the only addition to W11 I have to make it usable is StartAllback.

You're not. There are plenty of folks not having issues. Fresh installs from the 24H2 ISO doesn't have any issues either.

I practically skipped Win8 (though I did use Win8.1 a while before Win10 came out) but practically I've always had the newest Windows without issues. Am I just lucky or what..?

Just did a fresh install from 24H2 media. My previous Win11 version was an in place upgrade from Win10, so it seemed like a good time to do a fresh install. No problems so far, knock on wood!

I tried and it was working OKish but all my benchmarking results take a significant hit and performance was from 3-10% lower so I rolled back on 23H2

I get terrible frame-pacing / stutters in CS2 / DOTA 2 when using Windows 11 24h2.

I've always had these kind of issues that happen randomly so it's hard to reproduce.

Windows 10 has better frame-times and is way smoother for me.

Same settings, same drivers, everything updated etc.

5800x3d / RTX 4070 / 32 GB 3600MHZ.

A fresh install of NVidia drivers and perhaps even Windows should solve that problem. Uninstall your drivers(DDU) and then grab the latest and reinstall them.

I already tried different drivers etc. I'm quite sure they messed around with the Windows 11 Scheduler that they broke something.
Note that Windows 11 was gimped for 2-3 years until they released a Ryzen patch and no one said anything.

People are either ignorant or don't care about performance.

My point is this:

All, if not all the main-stream reviewers didn't cover the fact that Windows 11 had lower performance vs Windows 11, even before the KB5041587 patch which supposedly fixed Ryzen CPU's performance in Win 11 was released.

In my opinion, this means that:

1 - Reviewers chose to ignore it
2 - Reviewers are biased towards Windows 11
3 - Users are not paying attention to performance
4 - Users don't care about performance and care more about UI / shiny stuff

Is not possible to have gimped CPU performance for ~2-3 years and still choose to use that OS.

By the way, even with the performance patch, Windows 11 still has inconsistent performance in gaming.

The only "issue" I had when I switched to 11 was my TrackIR didn't work. I guess it was last month they FINALLY released an updated driver(2 in fact) The previous driver was from 2019. As for 24H2 I can't find anything to take issue with. I mean I ONLY use my PC for gaming so it's doing that just fine.

Which is false. The videos that you posted, all from the same source, all focus on the recent issue that was patched. It doesn't mean that Windows 11 has had these issues for years.

If you look at historical data that compares Windows 10 vs Windows 11, you can see margin-of-error differences in performance, with Windows 11 showing better performance more often than not.

This is not a debating rabbit hole I want to jump down. My testing shows margin of error difference between Windows 11 and Windows 10. This is with a fully debloated install of each.

I'm pretty sure you didn't notice that in most of the cases, 1% lows are way better on Windows 10.

Also I was talking more about 23h2 / 24h2, not 22h2.

Also that specific KB patch fixed some Ryzen 9xxx issues BUT also improved Ryzen 5xxx performance which proves my point that Ryzen was basically gimped.

What flaws? He is literally comparing some Windows versions and the results are very clear for me.

Why it is so hard for people to accept what Windows 10 just has at least / better performance in gaming than Windows 11 (at least for Ryzen CPU's) - especially in 1% lows.

Note that besides these videos comparing FPS, there are also some frame-time issues which are hard to pin point / track / prove.

I especially have these issues in Dota 2 / CS2, but mostly on Windows 11. Windows 10 is way smoother for me. Like i said same drivers / configs etc

That's your problem. Do your own testing. I've done mine and my result did NOT match his. I trust my results more. Not alone either. I can't find the article W1z did that shows there is minimal differences, however, Techspot has one. As much as I dislike Steve Walton, he got it right.

Tomshardware did a similar set of tests as well as a number of others, all with the same results: Win 10 and Win 11 are on par with each other.

Whatever testing Brian did, he got something wrong. Don't know what it is, don't care what it is, his number don't match everyone else's. He's got to figure out what he did wrong.
