Nvidia is seemingly planning a tiny uplift in the midange as well. Only 6% more shaders on 5070ti rumoured.

Technological progress is dead pretty much...

Both these ultra arrogant businesses think they can pivot to being compute / data centre focused businesses. Rinsing consumers...

They'd better hope better use cases emerge for their data centre products, or possible it could end very badly.

Bad naming as usual...
It kind of made sense when they named RDNA the RX 5000 series because of 50th Anniversary. This time what's the point again? Copying opponents' (both Intel and Nvidia) naming doesn't make it competitive.
Justifying the naming rebrand when UDNA will launch. ( Reset after 9000)

Nvidia is seemengly delivering. 60% more Rops, 33%+64 bit bandwidth and 16.6% Shaders. that's a lot. and what did AMD do. glorified 7800XT and it better be good.
The speed increase of 5070 Ti compared to vanilla 4070 Ti, not with super. is almost the same as with 5090 if not more. its 60% overall at least. depending what the game engine needs.

They will align CPU naming with GPU naming, while at the same time they will copy the Nvidia naming.
From a marketing perspective I think it is a good idea.

Marketing dept doesn't want you to compare the 8800XT to 7800XT. This naming makes so little sense. They could have waited until their UDNA architecture is out to make a completely new naming scheme. Start with 1xxx again.

Apple is keeping it simple for consumers. They start with 1 and add 1. Is this rocket science AMD?

Yup, this will be the 25th generation ATi - AMD graphics, so the proper name is Radeon RX 25700X.

You know what, I would be absolutely ok if they did that kind of naming convection.

If true, model naming realignments typically mean a break from comparisons with previous generations. Conservatively, a next generation beats the current generation by up to 30%. Therefore, a hypothetical 8800XT would have succeeded the 7800XT and have up to 30% more performance putting it around the 7900XT. But now it looks like AMD wants us to compare the next generation to Nvidia model numbers instead. That would mean a hypothetical 9070XT would be equivalent to the upcoming 5070Ti. The 5070Ti should have at least 30% more performance than the 4070Ti putting it around the 7900XTX/4080/4080 Super.

Taking everything into consideration, the 9070XT could be sub-$500, sub-300W and have the same performance as a 7900XTX and 4080 series. AMD would then be competing with Nvidia's next generation all the way up to the 5070Ti. That's a little better than being just a 7800XT successor especially if AMD matches Nvidia's RT performance as well.
You guys are setting yourself up for dissapointment. The leaks today also said $449-649 for N48 with top end below 7900XT. Now price will depend on what Nvidia does but performance leaks over the past year have been pretty consistent.

Source? The leaks I've seen claim 7900XT performance with improved RT, lower TDP for less than $600 msrp.

Makes you wonder why the integrated is 8060, while the desktop is 9070, and what the performance difference between them will be.

This name is to hide the epic fail that the card will be - just barely better than RX 7800 XT.

Very weird why they went to design an integrated GPU as fast as RX 7600, but the desktop discrete range will be so underperforming.

Well, no. The discrete GPU business barely supports itself in terms of profit, so it's natural AMD stopped delivering High-End. The customer doesn't want AMD-GPUs. Why would they waste ressources?

Leaks and rumors are fun, but I have a hard time trusting twitter leak posts.
I don't think its weird at all, faster iGPU and low end to mid range is what most people will be buying, the tech press and consumers want nvidia, it doesn't make sense for AMD to spend R&D on high end if it won't sell.

I guess it will be much easier for them to sell those 8060s, but the thing is those are ultra-high-end laptops.
They need a six core Strix something with that 40 CUs GPU. It will sell in more laptops.

Can't they just sort out a semi-normal naming system like with Ryzen?

RX 7900 GRE performance for the same ~550€ price does not make any sense at all. It's not upgrade it's sidegrade. If it's true RIP amd!

RX 7800 XT already was kinda weak if compare to RX 6800 XT no performance gains at all! If next gen will be another small performance increase for the same or higher price it will be end.

I dunno, before the RX era, we had cards like the 3850, 4870, 5870, etc. Now they're dropping the 8 out of there, so it's kinda half old, half new. Besides, AMD has reached the end of the model numbers again. I suppose they'll abandon RX for something new this time? What AI?

Well RIP? not sure, rumours seems to point in a direction where Nvidia wouldn't move much the needle for price/performance in next gen. You might get more performance, but that will cost more.

Look like only Intel is trying to move that with Battlemage.

Well RIP?

A third generation with virtually non-existent performance gains. RX 6800 XT -> RX 7800 XT -> RX 9070 XT.
I guess people will be happy to not spend on a "new" pretty expensive graphics card.

Not gonna lie, $611 is a pretty good price for a 6950 XT
