I've given up on treating new year's eve as anything different a long time ago. Why would I have to drink excessive amounts just because the calendar flipped a year? Why don't we have new month's day, or new week's day, then?

Not to mention, my hangovers have always been terrible, but they're even worse as I'm getting older. Totally not worth it.

Because those time points do not signify a full trip around the Sun and the beginning of a new trip around. New Years marks that time point and gives us a reason to pause & reflect the previous year.

Well, then don't get drunk. Go easy on the booze or switch your type. You want to know why I prefer the sweeter stuff like schnapps and whatnot? Hydration. The way one properly drinks it doesn't leave a person dehydrated. That's what a hangover is, dehydration headache. Stay hydrated and you'll be fine. Give it a go. You'll enjoy yourself and no hangover!
