Hello,

I have been following what is written here for a long time because I am a passionate maniac. I have quite a few motherboards and video cards too. I collect, but I am also ready to sell if a good price is offered. I do not know if this is the place to make offers for sale, but if you are interested I can give you a contact for contact. My name is Atanas and I am from Bulgaria. I am attaching some of them.

P.S. I admire your knowledge and everything I learn here from you and I also enjoy photos of very rare models of video cards and motherboards. It is a pleasure for me to continue following this forum.

Don't know if it will save time or help, but maybe you can try one of the OS images of XP people put together that has all updates and drivers bundled in? I can't remember some of the names

Yeah I am using one with all the SATA and chipset drivers built in. It finishes installing, but then both boards sit with a brain fart trying to get to the desktop.

7-11 (the original US Convenience stores, 7am-11pm were the hours) used to have vacuum tube testing machines.
1736193948857.png

You would pull all the tubes from your TV, and test them 1x1. The cabinet in the bottom had spares for sale.
Note that Hi-Fi, and Stereo were 2 different things.
THAT'S HI-FI, NOT WIFI

Work is moving and as such I got some cool old stuff. ... Also a Dell D630 (not really nostalgic though).

Ok so this is just a little thing. I had a Dell Latitude E6430 (the beefy version with the Nvidia NVS5200 and a quad core CPU and high res screen, it was good) but I sold it when I got the current Dell 7490. So I took the SATA SSD from the E6430 and just mounted it in the D630 and it just boots straight to Windows 10 and that's what I'm currently writing on. It's ... slow (a C2D T7250 will do that, especially as Windows looks for updates) but I'm continually amazed by modern operating systems. Completely different systems yet no reinstall necessary. Drop a modern drive with a modern OS in a computer from 2007 that hasn't been started at all in 10+ years and everything just works. We're living in the damned future. I am tempted to find a Core 2 X9000 for it, and maybe find an old tool for car diagnostics... Sadly it doesn't have the 1440x900 screen, but we can't have everything.

I saw this and thought: "Huh. That's cool, but I don't want to know how much it costs." And then I found it costs ≈ US$500. I don't question why these are so expensive, but I have to wonder who actually buys them.

It's very annoying when we watch reviews about this the prices always off-the-roof. I avoid LGR nowadays because it become too big and lots of sponsors (means expensive af custom hardware). I prefer watching some random low subscriber YouTuber, more often they are the one who knows the true value of retro hardware. Doesn't need to be super rare thus super expensive, but the model most people ignored but have value among retro hardware enthusiasts.

to be fair, lgr admits this thing is expensive. this is just making people aware of the project

Clint doesn't have any sponsors as far as I know; people just send him stuff because he has a large following. Also, not all of the stuff he features on his channel is extremely rare or expensive. Besides, people value stuff differently.

Is it a OEM disc? If not maybe burn a OEM disc and use the key on the package, although there are ways around needing a key for those old OS's

I have a tin of Windows Me Refreshing Micro Mints. The mints are long gone, but I still have the tin they came in. I can't find an image of them. They really hyped the release of Me.

So if Windows Me left a bad taste in your mouth..............

I saw this and thought: "Huh. That's cool, but I don't want to know how much it costs." And then I found it costs ≈ US$500. I don't question why these are so expensive, but I have to wonder who actually buys them.
What's really interesting about this PC is that it uses actual x86 compatible hardware. The roots of the Vortex86 SoC are in the Super Socket 7 era mP6 CPU by Rise Technology:

I'd be tempted to install Win7 on it and try web browsing. Unfortunately gaming (other than emulating DOS) would be out of the question, since the GPU does not support DX or OGL.
