I probably wont need a benchmark, but am I definitely going to benchmark and get the max OC i can on it. hopefully i can get a better OC on it than i have on my 7900x. i have it OC'd at 4.3 with 2 core @ 4.7 ghz and it gets pretty hot lol.
Most likely yeah but do not expect any miracles you will get just 2 more cores and a bit better stretch for OC..... shame you didn't get something with more cores.....GL

yeah if u like shpowing it how it does sure u do you man idc doing itz myself i like to blast and do shit with my pc rather, gottn of the BM train years ago hehe ^^ i like to enjoy it, lil tip if you got an option for BcLK ,luckly ive got a flippin external clock gen on my board tho, makes it fly tho in terms of IPC, hope you can figure some out if you wanna OC, other then that do a dirtyx quick MESH OC like the cach and leave it like that, it make shit fly for sure otherwise leaving it stock promise yourself that you have a stable stytem, oyu can show benchys but i would be like, hmh? okay? does it better for you tho? i mean it comes down to what you do with it tho, pls use it as daily driver, i recomend Tech Deals/Byte Size Tech or Carey Holzman ;)

oh gasch hell no flippin miracles of corse but from a 7820 to a 10940 it was miracles so yeahh theres that, 2 cores still for him is quiet bit to do stuff with, unlike you with benchys all day long ;) sorrybut youre 7940 is dope as fuk, to be exact so yeah dont play it down like you did tho man, idk what you hvae against me, just sharing experience not flippin benchmarkz :*

I don't have nothing against you I was just stating the FACTS and my personal experiences with the X299.....you find yourself provoked without any reason maybe because I asked you for some benchmarking results that you don't have because your machine ain't stable....but it is obvious to me now that is something very wrong with yours attitude and way of "talking" well maybe I am an Idiot because I didn't figure this out before......You recently registered on this forum and seems like you hijacked this topic for yourself....Well GL with that my friend....

P.S.I been on this forum for years and I helped and shared my experience with a lor of other people without issues what so ever sometimes we will debate each other and there is nothing wrong with that but seems to me that you buddy simply can not handle the truth and you like to twist and switch things in a weird way that feed your narrative.....I will not reply any more on yours nonsensical provoking wall of texts

That's kind of impressive given that voltage. It's still a bit high, but not as high as one would expect for that multi and bclk.

I’m curious what people can run with their 7/9/10th gen X299 chips. How much voltage etc.

My Xeon 3175X can run these speeds.

4.2Ghz 28/56@1.050v Cinebench R23@38K
4.3Ghz 28/56@1.075v Cinebench R23@39K
4.4Ghz 28/56@1.100v Cinebench R23@40K
4.5Ghz 28/56@1.135v Cinebench R23@41K
4.6Ghz 28/56@1.170v Cinebench R23@42K
4.7Ghz 28/56@1.205v Cinebench R23@43K
4.8Ghz 28/56@1.250v Cinebench R23@44K
4.9Ghz 28/56@1.310v Cinebench R23@45K
5.0Ghz 28/56 1.375V (Cinebench is too toasty to run, I stay under 85C at all times, would possibly need a delid. Though I am considering lapping my IHS, I think it would be amazing if I did this. The die and IHS is HUGE on these chips! I’d really like to see direct die though. I feel like I could make direct die work.

I keep the mesh at 3.2Ghz with 1.150v

The 192GB DDR4 is at 3800cl14

Would be curious how some
Other people’s Skylake-X chips compare.

Thanks!

I would never run voltages above 1.20, and daily drive would have to fall under 1.10 all-core.

well its not that bad tho thoes cpus can handle it thankfully, but mainstreams youre right, on mainstream they can less ✌️

sadly since 24H2 i cant get that high anymore without lotz of bsods of 103c ‍ even tho it could draw 300w and be fine, so sad i have to slow it down to like 5900X levels maybe a 5950X and can only hold against a 3900X or so

I have been running this 3175X for 4 months now daily for work. And I have been Sending 1.205V+ or even 1.300V+ which is perfectly safe! Now, I do keep limits in place temperature wise. But, 4.8Ghz is a perfectly fine daily overclock for heavy loads that are not AVX 512 (Which I do not use AVX512 anyways) I use really good cooling for this CPU. And I am only using one little dinky 1,000 watt MSI power supply. With proper cooling these chips can be very efficient! I can only imagine with direct die how these would perform. The sweet spot is probably 4.6-4.7Ghz though which can operate at much lower voltage, and the core to core temps are really tight!

Below are two different runs!

(Efficient easy run at 4.5Ghz) and (My usual 4.8Ghz daily settings which are a little toastier) (I also use a 5.0Ghz with HT off every now and then, 5.0Ghz with HT off really excels in some odd ball games which push the RTX4090 to full potential more or less. Most titles prefer HT on though.

Anyways, these CPU's are TOUGH as NAILS!! I own two of them actually. I really enjoy them though. I have not seen any sort of degradation with my daily usage. But, I do keep them COOL! I (I only use one, the other Retail 3175X is a spare that I don’t need at all) Anyways, I have seen some people who have set their 115c Tjmax and pushed theirs very hard. I would never do that. I do not like going to 90C or beyond.

4.5Ghz Max core temp= 54-62c

4.8Ghz Max Core Temp= 73-88c (That +300Mhz COST A LOT! lol)

if you have a clock gen on your board then go for a 125mhz baseclock because u can get more IPC out of it and 125mhz on the pcie so youre less bottleneckin a gen 4 card on a gen 3 slot and you effectively got 25% more IPC and 25% more bandwith available to the card

No wonder why my 10940x turned into an R5 3600x or some crap because 75c in the bios told you everything sleaned it on second pc as u saw and also a bit the gasket, if u got an Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 360 even tho mines from 2019 so it isnt one of thoes recalled models or batch fron 2021-22
You must do that with every AIO past 5 years,
if u got an Asetec one it wont even last for 5 years so yeah make sure to do that and put double the Thermalpaste on then what would be on mainstream thoes CPUs need every bit of cooling since they so fast in it of itsself and highly concentrated platform so everything gotta be just right

well its not that bad tho thoes cpus can handle it thankfully, but mainstreams youre right, on mainstream they can less ✌️

i can pass on it, not true, found that the prob was my post above the block was pregnant

if you have a clock gen on your board then go for a 125mhz baseclock because u can get more IPC out of it and 125mhz on the pcie so youre less bottleneckin a gen 4 card on a gen 3 slot and you effectively got 25% more IPC and 25% more bandwith available to the card

Can you explain this a little more?

hm well if you got an External Clock Generator on ya board you can go higher then normal on the BCLK or FSB for the older crowd here or at keast was part of the FSB once xou can usually sellect 100mhz, 125 or 166.. something mhz, last one hardly ever works but since i did that my 4080 is almost 100% used because ive got a very very powerfull Gen4 card in there it makes a bit of a difference give of take 10-15% or more if thats installed in a gen 3 slot instead of 4, so with 25% more on the Slot its giving the card more to work with reducing the bottleneck,, not on the DDR4 vs DDR5 but thats a different story

hooly crap thats cool tho they know how good this is, way better deals then anything AM4 related thats for sure, once with mw3 warzone was a thing i beat dudes 5800x3d he got his stupid 240hz in stupid 1080p and ive had 350 max on 1440p ultrawide even, that tells you a lot tho

hehe :D

So, you are saying that every 1 Mhz I go over on the PCIe slot speed, it provides more PCIe Gen 3 bandwidth?

basically yeah but dont go lil mhz tho cuz u wont see adifference anyway u gotta have a sertain Chip on there some like the B660 Mortor max had and ppl put a 12600k on there and did HUGE overclocks and basically had a new CPU :) like that rend where all thoes budget ballers made the i3/i5s go crazy :D but u gotta be at thoes platforms since gen4 and also windows does fell quiet a bit more snappy you can literally feel it everywhere its an insane cheat if u got it, or the board just allows it do do it rather then 101 102 103 which is mostly the case without thoes
if u want a lil recap on what i mean theres for exeption ONE good LTT video on there
especially on workstation who are bitzy older profit from that, alltho hes usign a 12400F which got shit 6cores wont be a 12900k but within 6 cores it did when this wouldnt be possiblecwithout that clock gen on there
kinda old school FSB oc on socket 775 but funny enouth still a good method
i can tell you 4.125mhz on the cores at 125 feld just as fast as 4+8ghz at 100mhz bclk
so imagine you THEN overclock it further u be shocked :*

I disagree, but more power to you.

I use a chiller with a set daily water temp. So it keeps things really cool. This has helped prevent any degradation on my slew of 13900K/KS/14900K/KS chips that I’ve owned and tested

I’ve tested a lot of CPU’s. And I learned that the most important thing with CPU’s is this:
(1) Not hammering them with some crazy unrealistic stress testing while using a ton of heat+voltage+ extended period of time+being overclocked+overvolted all at the same time. For example, these chips completely stock right out of the box are going to boost 4.3Ghz, which on my 3175X CPU’s is going to automatically ask the voltage to send 1.195V to stabilize those 4.3Ghz light loads automatically on boosting cores for lighter loads, my other sample (Not quite as good) would ask for 1.245v during a simple load with auto voltage on light loads. Add in much hotter temps with average cooling, and I can see a 3175X boosting 4.3Ghz and probably asking for 1.275-1.300V automatically when idling or browsing the web. Of course the voltage under heavy load drop off drastically as the clocks reduce and amperage goes up, and the volts go down. But so long as they are kept cool and not abused. I don’t think any issues would ever happen.

When I owned a 7980XE years ago, I ran it on direct die at 5.0Ghz 18/36. It was a tank of a chip. . I was running the craziest loads on it all while sending some WILD voltages to hold up that 5.0Ghz which was 1.435v lol. That 7980XE held up GREAT! I sold it to someone in Thailand, and they ran it for 3 more years.

Anyways, it seems like 1.350 for these chips is probably where I’d feel most comfortable at staying “Under” if anyone is running one and overclocking it. I learned my lesson with CPU’s and degradation. I keep voltages reasonable. I always test the limits of my chips, and re-test those limits to confirm if something has potentially degraded. And this 3175X has not broke a sweat. Just like most chips, these chips are TOUGH!

The problem there is not the heat as much as it is the circuit pathway degradation. High voltage can damage a pathway even if you keep it cold. Granted, that degradation happens slower when the die is cool but it still takes place. This is why I generally stay within or right around the VID spec the makers define. I run it as fast as it will run stable within the known safe voltage range and call it a day.

yeah u gotta give it lil try cuz its way deeper then just Multiplier OC the normal way without touching the bclock, sometines u just only need to put the bclk higher and thats it, no need to oc further hehe ^^

yahh well degredation happends but much slower then we really like to admit, sure, especially thoes crapzy chips but they will prolly degrade at a time where that machine that 7980 or what ever is useless to you as a main System :) prolly move it down as second pc and downclock it and get rid some of the voltage and be happy, but degradation hapends sadly everywhere, with CPUs tho idk you will use one for that long where its going to be a problem,,, prolly is the Performance which is before its a degredation but we can all agree at that level of hardware, almost every degree is a win :D

have a good morningy dudes, ive gott clean my sidepanel soon hehe ^^

thehe ^_^

i might still go for the 10980xe maybe but my 10940x already decasifies the 7980xe but it was too good for its time still so if somebud has it, optimise it a lil and put an alphacool eisbaer or some in that range on it and yeah cary on and have fun ;)
