Had you been logged in for a long time? If so, that's the reason. Cookies expire after a while. They don't last forever. And when they expire, so does your login session.

I suspected maintenance being done causing that, or Firefox decided that the cookies were bogus. :mad:

I don't remember if they expire every month or not. I sometimes wonder if Firefox bans the cookies after a Firefox update.

This is why I'm giving an educated guess. My install of FireFox has extensions that aggressively delete cookies and LTSOs when a tab is closed or the browser is exited. I login to TPU every single time I visit. This is the same for all website. It can be tedious but it's also the ultimate in security methodologies..

Or, do you have your session privacy set to clean items when you close the browser... possibly, something along that line.

Your input would be the better one. Cookies seemed plausible but an expired 2FA key would be a thing too.
(PS, please don't make 2FA mandatory, it's a needlessly annoying intrusion.)

Happened to me on my phone yesterday (iPhone, so WebKit engine regardless - Opera GX), but not on desktop. I have 2FA on too, 30 days verification and all. But I didn't need to login again, just refreshing the page fixed it

Happens to me all the time on Android. Refresh or hit the TPU logo to go to forums homepage works.

I imagine it has to do with memory management deleting cookies/unloading the webpage when Chrome is minimized.

For non-thumbnail images on the main site, the host of its url is www.techpowerup.com instead of tpucdn.com. Is it intentional or a forgotten change todo? The same large image file can be accessed on both hosts and tpucdn is always faster on my network.

maybe 1 URL hitting the site directly as opposed to the local POP.

He's referring to the fact that site asks you "do you want to enable push notifications" each time you login on a smartphone browser, and keep doing the same after each session, even if you explicitly said "don't ever ask again".
