Asus P6X58DE Motherboard
Intel Xeon W3680 CPU (~i7 980X)
$ 40 + Shipping (if the motherboard and CPU are sold)
Samsung DDR3 4x4GB Green RAM
$ 75 + Shipping
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB SSD (if the motherboard, cpu, and ram are sold)
If anyone is genuinely interested in these parts, please post below and I will take the parts out and get some nice images of each individual item. I hope this is okay with the rules of this forum. Everything is very clean. I have it all assembled because in the mean time I am going to keep trying to get it working. I am using it right now to post this message.
I used this computer almost daily since 2018 with the same hardware configuration and it was reliable and quite fast for its age but several months ago it started having some issues:
Sometimes when you shut it down, it will just immediately restart, so to get it to turn off you have to kill its power before it starts rebooting.
Other times it fails to boot past the bios screen.
My hunch is it has a bad capacitor and needs replacement due to the age of the motherboard but its beyond my skill level.
I don't think it is an issue with the 950 Pro SSD because I tried other SSD and HDD.
I took this machine completely apart, cleaned everything, and rebuilt it a few days ago with a new CMOS battery but it still has the issue. That is why I am willing to give away the board and CPU for the price of shipping. Maybe you can get it working or you have another X58 system and would like spare parts.
I know there are some X58 enthusiasts out there, I'd like it to go to someone that appreciates this hardware. If the rest sells, I might also sell the Samsung 950 Pro 512GB for $75 if there is interest, or maybe we can make a deal on all of it, so I have included a picture of it. Because it has a legacy boot mode, this is the only NVMe drive that will boot with X58.
