to be fair, when you're going in the highway and see cars coming straight at you and start shouting "hey why are these idiots all going the wrong way", odds are (high ones) you're the one on the wrong.
Someone buying the product everyone buys hardly makes anyone a fanboy, but buying the product no one cares about really do.

Nothing wrong with having a preference for either side.

Not everyone games with RT

Not everyone likes upscaling

And anyone in those above camps can really just toss up a coin i doubt anyone rocking a 7800XT or 7900GRE is having a bad time owning one doesn't make someone a fanboy...

If the 9070XT ends up being pretty awesome and people buy it that's awesome. I hope the 5070/5060ti/5060 are awesome as well.

I actually hate the direction both companies are going but currently have a preference for GeForce but that has nothing to do with Nvidia name being on the box.

I'm looking for over a year for another mainboard. The current one is full of firmware( = mainboard-software) bugs, since day one.
The criteria are very high - so I have not found any alternative yet.

I'm talking in general and replying to a post also talking in general terms. But at this point you do have to be unaware, cheap/broke, or a fanboy to buy AMD instead. The only valid reason i see to buy AMD instead of Nvidia is the linux thing, the rest is coping mechanisms working

I mean I bought a 4090 and a 6700XT but I guess that makes me broke.... lol

I don't even understand that logic... People spending 1k on 7900XTX are broke....

Most people who own Nvidia own 60 class cards so does that make them broke shouldn't they all own 4090s...

Ah, the classic "herd mentality" argument! How typical! You know, even he who shall not be named wasn't born a dictator. He was voted into power by the majority, too.

Edit: I'm not saying that Nvidia is a bad option. What I'm saying is that there isn't one single solution that suits everyone. If you need or want Nvidia for X reason, that's fine. But following trends without thinking for yourself is probably the worst thing anyone can do in any area of life.

The only coping I see going on is thinking others should spend their hard earned money only on what they like/prefer.

People should worry about their own wallets not others....

I wouldn't buy a 12GB 550 usd card so the 5070 would automatically be eliminated and that's before seeing a single benchmark... which would make me weight the 5070ti vs the 9070....

If i didn't like either I wouldn't buy either and if I couldn't spend a dime more I wouldn't waste my money on a product I don't like.

I can for damn sure say I wouldn't be telling people to buy one or the other they should weight the pros and cons of both and decide for themselves.

Well, if you'd buy a 12 GB card over an equally performing 16 GB card for the same price, then you're the fanboy or the one full of shit.

That's like saying if the 7900XTX was the same price as a 4060 what would you buy its make believe.... for me it would for damn sure not be the 4060 lol.

For all we know the 9070XT will cost 700 and perform close to a 4080S

Speculating about what someone should buy or not buy is pointless when we don't even know how they actually perform.

If an amd and nvidia card performed identically I'd likely buy both... The whole reason I picked up a 6700XT was to mess around with an AMD card I do that every 3-4 years...

So it's like Coca-Cola or Pepsi. Does it matter? If I drink Coca-Cola, then all the Pepsi people suddenly have to be hostile and tell me that I'm an idiot? What's the point in all this? What are we trying to achieve with this conversation?

"Out of two equal cards in every sense, everybody should buy Nvidia." So who is the fanboy? Don't you see the irony?

I'd buy whatever was available at my local electronics store if they were identical or which card had a model I liked better like the Nitro from Sapphire or the FE from Nvidia unfortunately the 5070ti doesn't have an FE so I might lean towards the 9070 if you want to play make believe.

That's a large part of it, you didn't buy what I would buy, so you definitely chose poorly and you're the the enemy!

I also can't respect constant name calling or clearly coming from some angle of either/both intellectual or moral superiority for choosing a damn graphics card. From any company.

For example, the very instant somebody calls Nvidia Ngreedia (it's my example because we see it the most), it's a red flag against objectivity that instantly devalues anything they have to say on the topic.

Got a technical argument or point to make? Make it like an adult, discuss it rationally. Personally, I could stand to I suppose take the "bait" less and stoop to their childish levels. Yet sometimes matching energy highlights the issue with it, even if it gets all the posts removed and threads shut down lol, because sadly all too often when not challenged in any way at all, and even when reported, it's left up, so ending up with it all removed or shut down still feels effective.

sure mate, even with a discount everyone is picking up nvidia for dlss, rt, better resale value, better stability, and at the same price you'd pick up amd. Sure, sure, i'm sure you would, you and everyone else.

Why do you think that everybody cares about all that? Can't people have different needs and priorities?

Whichever had better cooling, and then I'd look at power draw. If both cards were identical on all points I'd buy the one that looks better I guess, but this assumes both cards are truly identical across the board. In the real world though if the 5070ti and the 9070xt has identical price, raster performance and VRAM amount I'd probably buy the 5070ti because the entire world is addicted to what Nvidia is peddling and sure let's get on that train! If it becomes a RX6950XT/Geforce 4070 situation though I'd get the 9070xt for sure.

Just becuase I prefer Nvidia doesn't mean i like everything they make the 4060ti 8GB and 4070ti 12GB i wouldn't touch at their MSRP with a 10 foot stick on the other side I don't hate every AMD card even though my preference is Nvidia there are scenarios where I'd pick up a 7900GRE, and the 7800XT is pretty inoffensive if you don't like upscaling or RT.

6700XT was my favorite gpu at 300 when I picked it up didn't want to spend a penny more for an amd basicslly test system to see FSR on native hardware and just get a feel for their gaming drivers which I do every 3-4 years.

Both companies make awesome products and Turds..

Although none of them are actually bad some are just priced stupidly.

sure mate, even with a discount everyone is picking up nvidia for dlss, rt, better resale value, better stability, and at the same price you'd pick up amd. Sure, sure, i'm sure you would, you and everyone else.

I do not get that.

Well everyone else would imply myself also, right?
Hint: Feel free to look for my other forum accoutns with the same name. Than you will see what i bought in the past few years.

In 2023 i tested also a nvidia graphic card and saw the software had issues wiht initialising the monitor properly the first try after a boot. There was even a new firmware flash available from nvidia - for any of those nvidia number graphic cards type - well the flash changed nothing. Which did not fix the issue at all. Those 3 seconds additional delay in windows was also a reason why I sold that nvidia card quite soon. That card was in the current supported hardware list. I gave both companies a chance - i tested for several months the nivdia software. If the card would have initialised the display instantly after a windows boot - I maybe would have considered more buying a nvidia graphic card. I wonder how many test both software graphic drivers in different operating systems for several months. In daily usage - in gaming usage.

So on one hand you're saying both cards are identical and now you're moving the goal post again so what you really wanted to ask is if I like Nvidia's or AMDs features better and would that lead me to choose Nvidia at the same price which the answer to that is yes currently. Although AMD would only need to make FSR comparable to wipe that advantage out and FSR4 is looking pretty good.

You've read it black and white: only a fanboy would consider AMD, so you can't deny it anymore. You're an AMD fanboy. The fact that you prefer Nvidia doesn't change the fact.

To be honest both cards don't exist yet and AMD cards aren't currently identical top to bottom as far as RT and upscaling two things I care about. So pretending they are identical doesn't make sense.

Personally I don't care if people think I'm a fanboy of either company... I'm a fanboy of hardware in general and progress so as long as both are offering that in their own way awesome.

For all we actually know the 9070 sucks and the 5070ti doesn't offer anything but frame gen over the 4070ti super....
