Modding LGA775 cooler to work with LGA2011

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if any of you has experience modding the LGA775 cooler to fit an LGA2011 motherboard? I have a few (relatively capable) Scythe Andy Samurai Master coolers and I would like to use one of them in an Intel Xeon E5 2640V4 system I am currently putting together. Has anyone here tried this mod? I watched a few YouTube videos doing that but they mostly include using a drill (that I want to avoid) and are in foreign language (non-English) so I figured I should also ask here.

Thanks,
Ppanickk

Which ones? I can tell what's up if it's in Russian/Ukrainian, or perhaps with some thorough thought, in Portuguese.

This one is informative even without any commentary. Don't see any flaw other than the ghetto aesthetics (the opposite of the flaw in my book). I'd do the same thing, it also leaves this cooler compatible with LGA775 if you ever need it, albeit with some slight inconveniences in the installation. More elegant ways aren't exactly worth the extra hassle I'm afraid.

So you basically need four washers, four compatible bolts, pilers, some brute force and finesse. Seems like a 30-minute task.

On the other hand, since the Scythe cooler supports AM2/AM3 CPUs, do you think this inexpensive mounting kit from Aliexpress will allow the cooler to be mounted without modifications? It looks similar to the mounting brackets from that CPU era, but I could be mistaken.

Ali won't show me anything for some political reason.

If you're talking this bracket then yes, will work perfectly. I didn't know your cooler is AMD compatible.

Yes, the cooler supports basically all the different mounting mechanisms of that CPU era.

I have edited my previous post to include a screenshot of the Aliexpress listing. You should be able to see it now.

Thanks for your help.

But you did everything on your own! I'm glad we have this matter solved.

There are lots of laughably cheap chinese LGA2011-compatible coolers, and at least from my personal experience - they get the job done.
I used to have an "Snowman"-branded ones in my HP Z620 workstation, and used cheaper single-fan models for a couple x79 and AM4 rigs (at sub-120W TDP mostly). All come with a crapton of brackets for any socket imaginable.

This is the one I used for my power-hungry rig:
