The recently unveiled AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT has been the epicenter of a plethora of leaks in the past few weeks. We now have not only a rough idea of what kind of synthetic performance the highest-end RDNA 4 GPU is about to bring to the table, but also how much the card is expected to cost. Now, yet another leak seemingly sheds light on perhaps the most crucial aspect of any gaming GPU - it's in the name, gaming.

Hilariously enough, this leak, once again, has been sourced from a now-nerfed forum post on Chiphell. This time around, site admin nApoleon was able to run a few games on the brand-new RDNA 4 card, including Black Myth: Wukong and Cyberpunk 2077. The results have been added as screenshots below, but here is a summary - the RX 9070 XT performs decently well, trading blows with the RTX 4070 Ti Super. In NVIDIA's favorite Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K with ray tracing, the RX 9070 XT managed 26 FPS, neck and neck with the RTX 4070 Ti, whereas the RTX 4080 Super was well ahead with 32 FPS.

In 1080p, the RX 9070 XT managed 85 FPS, whereas the RTX 4070 Ti edged past with 2 more frames. The RTX 4080 Super, unsurprisingly, was well ahead once again with 101 FPS. The RX 9070 XT appears far from promising in rasterization performance, as revealed by Black Myth: Wukong. At 4K, the RX 9070 XT managed around 30 FPS, defeating the 4070 Ti Super which managed 28. And at 1080p, the RX 9070 XT raked in 97 FPS, coming shockingly close to the 4080 Super, which managed 99 FPS. The RTX 4070 Ti Super was left behind, managing 87 FPS 'only'.

Of course, it now all boils down to how competitive Blackwell is priced, and what kind of performance it brings to the table. DLSS 4, along with all the multi-frame generation AI chicanery appears to be all set to shake up the way we measure performance, making things even more complicated. Either way, for those who cannot care less about ray tracing, the RDNA 4 GPU sure does look pretty enticing, if the leaked benchmarks and pricing information is taken to be true.

For 550$ and given it's full ray tracing enabled, it's pretty good. Wonder how it would be against the other two cards in these games (or others) with RT disabled.

See, this is how 7000 series should have been. I would have bought one.

And I would have waited with this 7900XT :)

Goes to show the value of patience, the one thing I stopped having after 6,5 years of GTX 1080.... :( It doubly confirms to me we should always just wait until a deal comes up that truly feels right.

Shaping up to be more or less the same as the 5070. Since that card is as fast as the 4090, looks like AMD has a real winner here.
How hilarious would it be if AMD countered with a presentation showing their card next to a 4090 with accompanying FPS.

Have you not enjoyed your 7900XT a bunch though? Just because it might be outdated soon doesn't mean it was a bad buy.

Sure, but was bought at a price beyond sense. Still enjoy the card every day, and I really don't feel an urge now to do anything. RT perf is whatever to me, honestly. Every game that has it, I take a look at it. It just never convinces.

Can't wait to see what this card does. Looks very attractive, especially at this price point. Just wish we could see some reviews already, I am salivating.

Good results, but not enough for me to upgrade. Need something beating 7900xtx/4080S to see the difference coming from 4070S. I might sit this gen out until Rubin/Udna.
Seeing how things after CES look, early 4090 adopters are really gonna get their money's worth over 4+ years.

Lol I used my GTX 580 for 8 years, 2 of them was before I started my family.. I upgraded to a used 980 Classified in 2017, then a 3070Ti, which I handed down to my first born.. he is almost 13 now :D

Time flies man, flagships come and go.. when they show up they are awesome, when they are done they are dust collectors.. like my 580 Matrix Platinum, and 980 Classified

just an FYI, if you want to inject some artificial frames, AMD has AFMF right there in the driver, you can turn that crap on any time you like to make fps number go higher.

Don't forget Lossless Scaling as well, I've heard that has a 4x mode too. I would expect DLSS4 multi frame gen to look a bit better though tbf.

AMD should just price it at slightly above cost and gain marketshare.....of course the shareholders who know nothing about the market/industry will never abide such longterm thinking and strategy as the only thing that matters anymore is quarterly earning must always be "up" regardless of whether it is mortgages the future of the company.

yes but imagine a GPU powered by google's willow quantum CPU. It would have unlimited performance since it could render the image in multiple realities simultaneously.

And you won't even need to install any game, you can just tell it's artificial general intelligence what you want to experience today, and it will just create that game as you go along.

Until that GPU is for sale under $300, i'm not buying anything!

I don't mind getting some RX 6600 series GPU for my secondary PC, it's cheaper and better than 3050 for its tasks.
