Someone, please, explain me, how $549 for 9070XT with 7900GRE/4070 Ti rumoured performance, is anywhere more affordable than 5070 for the same money? I've wrote $549, because MBA models are going to be unobtanium as usual, so only AIB overpriced custom design cards will present.
This is really a complete idiocy. The 5070 perhaps has a performance of 4080, maybe even Super version, whereas 9070 even XT is not, as it was clearly stated.
This is obvious, that these are only rumours. But this is also obvious, AMD will do everything to keep the price as high as possible (especially while usng the rumours to test the waters). $550 though is not a good price, unless the 9070 XT beats the 5070 non TI, for at least 5-10%, or even 15% performance and feature wise. But that won't happen.
And there are still the "new" unsold old stock cards of 7000, which theoretically should have get the price cut. As much as the used market. The only reason to buy 9070 over 7900, is potential availability, a fresh warranty, and the potentially better encoding/decoding performance. Still have to wait for the actual reviews.
Been there. Did the biggest mistake by investing into R700. I'd better buy a single 4870 and call it a day.
But the thing is, back then, ATi has beaten the sh*t out of 8800GTX/9800GTX, and was rivaling GTX280. This time, AMD is barely challenging their own almost three years old mid-end GPUs, for their original launch prices. This is not even stagnation. This is pure gouging, just because they can get away with this.
