Just providing evidence that missing features matter and AMD GPUs are obsolete. Do try to keep up.
The 5700XT was a $400 card, same price as the 2060Super. I wonder how good the latter can play the latest UE5+ games with integrated RT even at 1080p and with what sort of gaming experience.
Or if we mean they can just start it, but with very low settings, cudos for the bragging rights!
I rather not touch it until I can grab something that can give a nice visual experience along with the story.

Based on the title of the thread and the rumors so far, is the 9070s lacking any features for running these games?

What is this campaign against anything AMD does in the GPU space?

The 10 series was released in 2015. The 5700xt was released in 2019, a full year after Turing that can run the game. I mean come on,nvidia cards that are older and cheaper than the 5700xt can run the game. The 5700xt can't. Clearly, greedy planned obsolescence is what we'd be reading if it was an nvidia gpu. Now it's just Friday :D
Exactly - the 5700 XT was released in 2019 with no RT. If you were clairvoyant enough to know that there's gonna be a game coming 6 years later that you wanted to play on your 6 year old card, then you obviously got a 2000 series Nvidia one, not the 5700 XT.

We're 2, soon 3 generations ahead of the 5700 XT. Talking about it in context of why Radeon isn't a successful brand now doesn't make sense. So yeah, let's not move the goalpost, let's keep talking about the present.

I even considered saying they'd have the same external dimensions, turning circle and visibility, yet I doubt it would have mattered. This was just my point about hypotheticals in debates.

Your point is well received and understood, I'll be clear about that, my point, well I believe I've made it too, aaaand we're back to agree to disagree. I'll ponder a way to get a broad and fair enough sample size to weigh in on the notion (which brand is more premium).

Yeah, I should have been clearer that Sunshine isn't just for AMD. It's for Nvidia too, once their app drops the option. (Or if you're not running Windows on the host.)

If Sunshine isn't working for you, and if your host is on Windows, Parsec is quite good.
If you're a DaVinic Resolve user, DO NOT INSTALL Parsec! I was pulling out hair, trying everything I could when I loaded up Davinci Resolve for the first time in a while (this was a while ago mind you), uninstalling, reinstalling, deleting cache, deleting files, different GPU drives, nothing. Finally found some random post on the web about Parsec causing an issue, uninstalled Parsec and Resolve started working perfectly normal again.

For my streaming, Steam just tends to be the easiest simplest solution, and I have used AMD link, which is alright, especially with non steam games, but I stopped once I moved my desk to the same room as my TV and ran an 11m HDMI cable to it. Much, much better, and can actually use HDR.

Hardly…
A steam link of a game that has a minimum requirements for 1080p, 30FPS at low preset.

Like I said for bragging rights. Lousy game experience.

And again… the thread is about RDNA4
Anything useful there or this is another opportunity to throw mud on AMD?

If a feature were to pick up momentum for the next HL2 or Portal, people will notice. That stirs interest in consoles that can do the thing because AMD.
It's not a hard selling point when consoles already lean AMD but I think you get the picture. People are drawn to stupid gimmicks.
PC gamers don't care for RT/PT. The normies that screech about it literally believe nVidia invented ray tracing. When features get forced, that becomes the reality.
I'm not expecting anything like that to happen from AMD but when I pick up a "9000" series card, I'm leery about feature specifics that surface almost immediately.
The last time it happened to me the label was ATi and there was major DX9 feature lockout. We haven't seen any ATi/AMD demos in a while so maybe we're overdue.
I agree that people don't care about RT per se, but they care about better nice shinier graphics. That's the whole point of new GPUs, new consoles, new TVs, new monitors. Raytracing is a leap forward to get us there. It's also a leap forward in hardware demands, so it may take a while :D

Raytracing is just Nvidia's way of showing there will be no more 1080 ti moment.

Same as the Tessellation moment, but AMD have an answer to Tessellation:
1737101682105.png

So when AMD does something similar for RT, then the nonsense of throwing RT as much as possible will just end. And that will be good for us consumers.
More RT doesn't mean better graphics, just lower FPS = need a faster card = more Jensen jackets :D

As we see now, AMD is taking up the challenge and getting on the tensor train as we see with the 9070 cards.
More interesting will be in the next generation of cards, but that's it for now.

Its nice to have RT on. Adds to immersion. I agree and I like it.
But honestly between RT low/medium/high you hardly notice any difference during gameplay unless you stop and put the screen "under the microscope".
Not even mentioning the PT extravaganza...

Throw stones at me, but I really can't say that one of these screenshots is better than the others. I see the difference in that one single light source, but which one looks better? I really don't know.
Can you tell a difference here? Without RT it just looks incredibly FLAT, it's like HDR on vs off.

For me obviously the 3rd
1st: flat-ish lighting
2nd: depth in lighting and shadows
3rd: more depth

But again between 2 and 3 in 95+% of the scenes you wont even notice it unless you stop and observe.
And after the first couple of hours it doesn't matter unless your brain doesn't let go of the "must have the latest and greatest"

Its a simple psychological issue.
Nice to have if possible but sometimes some things not worth the effort or the price... yet!
Things change with time.

The left one looks a lot more saturated and... orange. :wtf:

I could say that I have a slight preference to it, but if it was only one screenshot, or a live game with no side-by-side comparison, I wouldn't care.

Edit: I take the above back. The left one has better shadows. See? I can't even decide.

I must be weird or something.

Ray Tracking looks like shit.
Then im incredibly envy, I wish it looked like shit to me too, wouldn't have to spend on buying GPUs.

I mean, I hate the colours and I hate the lighting, even though the RT one is _possibly_ more realistic from physics point of view :D

I think that's not accurate. See below, RT off, RT on, PT on. Lots of differences between the 3.

If you don't like the implementation of RT_OFF - just talk to the game developers to improve it.

As we all know, RT =/= lighting in the real world.

And in most situations RT implementations are a mess of good and bad lighting scenes, but I don't see how that has any bearing on the 9070 thread.

And in most situations RT implementations are a mess of good and bad lighting scenes, but I don't see how that has any bearing on the 9070 thread.
Non RT is fine if you work on it, but it's only possible on a game that's on rails. How are you going to work on lighting in an open world game? You can't individually fine tune every single scene. It's just impossible. Look at the bottles on the shelf, without RT they all look like copies, they are just flat, no differentiation.

No. They just have a different idea of what good graphics means. ;)

Open world games with dynamic daytime and weather effects have existed long before RT was invented.

Does that matter?
