I am really excited to see what comes out of this. I just hope that Kunos doesn't fumble this game like Playground Games did with Forza Motorsport. I'll make sure to check some more user reports before I buy AC Evo, though.

I fell for this for the original AC. Promised all the stuff if I bought the game early. They did not, so I do not play their game. Early access back then I think was only around 40 or 50 bucks, but that is about 80-90 bucks now after inflation.

Nope.

Turn 10 are the devs for FM8, not playground games.

  • AI is terrible, cannot be raced cleanly or in large groups. Pile ups at the drop of the green flag. Opponents will sit right at the edge of your rear bumper, won't pass, and pit maneuver you.
  • Apparently licenses and academy stuff is online content, and they can't get the servers online for those services.
  • Day 1 had only 5 FWD cars available and 1 RWD, a terrible decision.
  • Numerous bugs, glitches, and problems (which are expected of an EA title)
  • Triple monitor support seems limited to only Nvidia Surround enabled screens.
  • VR performance with top-end hardware 9800X3D+4090 is terrible.
Steam review bombing started within the first we hours, because of everything above.
People thought it was over-hyped and under-delivered for a $30 USD EA game.
Kunos wisely decided to unlock ALL the cars while they try to figure out the technical issues and get the online services activated.
Once online is working, they will lock cars away and users will have to unlock the through gameplay.

I guess people don't know what early access is...
It's not early access to a complete game...

I had hopes for this one, as anyone could figure from my comment on a previous related article.

But now, after reading all those Steam reviews and thoughts of many race-sim enthusiasts, I clearly see that Kunos decided to join "f**k the customer" club by introducing anti-consumer practices, as well as indirectly saying "screw all of you, our dear community, that made our original game much better than we ever dreamed it may become, but we'll have this one in our new way nonetheless".

Well, that's your choice Kunos, have it your way, but the community will have the last words, whether you like them or not.
And what I may summarize as my personal opinion is, this game is DOA people, don't bother. This always-online POS won't match the original game + CM preview builds + Pure + one of the best & largest game communities out there, not in a million years. Cheers.

Update: I got my monitor, I tried it, the driving feels great, but there's significant performance issues and graphical artifacts. The performance issues are really apparent when you put a couple of other cars on the track. My sim rig is a 5600X and a 6950XT, so no slouch and I'm getting sub 30fps whenever there's 7 other cars on screen, it seems to be a CPU issue because once the cars leave my site, it runs better again. My resolution is 7680x1440, I'm using high settings, with a few medium settings. If you haven't bought it yet, I'd wait, it's not ready and not really worth playing at the moment. Maybe an X3D chip will help, but it's still not ready. I'm excited though, it's definitely a step in the right direction, I can't wait until modders make areas to drive around in and add cars.
