The Montech Heritage Pro takes an uncommon interior layout, adds BTF, while allowing for big radiators and powerful air cooling, then wraps it all in a beautiful leather exterior. If that is your thing, then the case offers a very good base to build a system that just exudes swagger.

Vegan leather is plastic. There are many varieties and some really high quality ones, but I find it deceptive to call it leather everywhere.
Please note that I'm not bashing to product, I was actually really interested when I learned about it and I hope it convinces more brand to try a bit of (real) leather in their product. The smell is nice, a bit of patina near the buttons would be nice after a few years.

(Mods, I don't know how to combine my two answers).

White one looks so much better...black and brown just clash...regardless, I applaud any smaller case that doesn't force you into using a low profile, down draft CPU cooler

I’m all for having more options in this mATX form factor and design layout. I was close to pulling the trigger on an NR200/P, but the added premiums for a higher-tier mini-ITX board and an SFX PSU put me off. A similar design philosophy in a slightly larger mATX form factor that accommodates ATX PSUs is definitely a win in my book. We've got quite a few to choose from, but its never enough :p Forget the leather - throw on grass, flowers or even a watermelon on top and I’d still see it as a welcome addition.

aesthetically, i'm 50:50 on it or its just not for me.

Where in the review does it state vegan leather is used?

Thanks for the review!

I'm sorry, but the combination of those angles (which would work great with some anime paint job), and leather (more of a timeless, stylish look IMO) just doesn't work for me.

In yet another stupid car analogy no one asked for, imagine:

Or, Montech should've made it clear. We don't know what the reviewer was told, maybe it's not the same as the pic in my last post.

Just looking at the pattern on that "leather" it looks fake.
If it is fake it is false advertising and should not be marketed as Leather.
I know in Australia at least, anything sold as Leather has to be real Leather and have a certified tag attached by law.

I did not want to write it earlier

I dislike calling everything wood or leather.

There is this cheap PU (polyurethane) leather from money purses and such. therefore not leather. it's polyurethane.

Please go to ikea and touch those sheep and cow furs. Careful they also sell polyester fake ones also.

My wood floor also has a PU coating. Therefore not wood.
Only uncoated, just wood pieces glued together with wood glue I would call furniture made from wood. Those pc cases do not have wood. Some ikea furniture is like that.

--

#15 thanks for clarifying than its not leather - it's polyurethane.

After reading the provided link - I'm against it. Most stuff which is a mixture of two materials can not be recycled at all. there is no need for it as there is plenty of leather available.

--

It's nice to see different materials for computer cases be used. I would not buy it. If there were real only wood or leather used, with the usual wood or leather surface. I may consider purchasing such products.

I do not get the point why everything has to look the same. "real - nature - like" Wood and leather looks not the same on every spot.

--

I dislike using not lock in extension cords for the 230V AC line for the power supply units.
Those bend radius for the 20/24 pin ATX connector looks really worse.
That case does not really provide any space or options for cable management

You want to keep all those cables hidden and than put the power supply unit with all the cables going to the power supply unit in the view area of the user.

The backside needs at least 3cm additional room.

I assume the one connector for the case leds and case power button goes from left bottom of the case to the top bottom of the case. When you do a new mainboard standard I expected that these connectors were such placed that the cable length would be shortened and assembly would be made much easier.

Those sata cables show where teh fault is in this case. They go over all those usb connectors on the top bottom of the mainboard.
there is no room for those sata cables, power supply cables.

Also it seems those fan cables / what else? on the top have also no place.

Note: there are additional cables missing as always. those sata ssd and hdd cables are quite bulky and also needs a place to be aligned to the mainboard and the power supply unit.

No :(
No locking mechanism provided

I have a fake leather case for my Kindle; have to admit it is rather nice.

On the manufacturer's website. ''Eco-leather''.
Yeah I'd clarify that in the review for sure.

I'm not saying vegan leather doesn't have its place, but distinguishing these two types is something a quality review should do.

Heya everyone. Fixed the leather topic. I wasn't aware it was not real leather. I did question the unusual texture of it, and was missing the distintive leather smell. I just thought that the smell had already dissipated. I have had the sample for a while, well before launch and the review was ready to go in advance. Montech did not communicate to me, that this was not real leather.

The fact that it is "vegan" (which I used instead of "Eco" they now list) has been made clear in the review at every point the leather is now mentioned. That said, the material mix is still pretty unique - market acceptance aside.

Certain consumers will even prefer vegan leather for either ethical or even allergy reasons. It's not that much of an issue to some folks conclusion wise but as always facts should be presented for the user to decide, and now they are. Thanks for noting it.

Thank you for the review. I agree that anything that is vegan or plastic should not be called leather.

I am shopping for a new PC case and I appreciate your thermal measurements however it would be really great if you could separate the MATX cases from the larger ones for a better comparison of thermals and acoustics

The benchmarks are deliberately universal as we use exactly the same parts in all cases, regardless of size (with the exception of the PSU (ATX vs. SFX)). So you will still find all mATX cases we reviewed in that universal chart. We do not bench with mATX boards in mATX cases - the build is just to showcase the build and functional experience.
