Very inconsistent frames

I have very inconsistent frames on tf2, I have a acer nitro 5 laptop. IT goes from 140 to like 40. It is plugged in and I am playing 1080p all low. Is there a way I can optimize to make in consistent? I think it has to do with the CPU.

Here are the specs:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.83 GB usable)
GTX 1650

Thanks

There are a lot of possibilities. What are your temps like? My guess is thermal throttling, but could be anything. ThrottleStop may be of some help. The more info we have, the more help we can be.

Is this the model you have? The cooling looks pretty weak. I have no dislike of Acer, but they do have a price point to reach, and cooling is one of the places corners get cut to reach it.

Running in the 90s is indeed very hot. Sounds like you are butting up against thermal limits. I'd give it a thorough dusting out, and max out the fan speed. Maybe get a cooling pad for it. If that doesn't help, you may need to try ThrottleStop, or some better TIM on the gpu/cpu cooler (lots of options for pads and paste these days).

90c is a bit hot, my best advice would be cap fps down. lower fps will lower heat generation. Cleaning is a good route but that might not solve the issue and only delay when you see the drops.

I think that this is the cooler on it. Not bad, but not mighty either. Might be a good candidate for some swanky PTM. Don't expect miracles though.

You may have to do as Arbiter said and limit things to an acceptable level of performance. Take a long hard look at your power settings.

I usually did repaste my gaming laptops with NOCTUA NT-H1 Thermal paste every 4 to 6 months.
If you are out of warranty you may do that.

A software won'T fix the most likely root cause of old thermal interface medium.

I would also check if the cooling is appropriate. If not improve it or reduce the thermal stress by software.

Heavy throttling.

Cap the FPS to 60. Don't buy another laptop for gaming. You're either going to burn shitloads of money for something decent, or you get another midrange POS like you do now that is insufficient for any serious workload.

Until then, you can try solutions within the margin you have, repaste etc. But none of it will radically change things. The gear is underspecced and poorly built for the task given.

It dose, undervolting and using Throttle Stop or this method will lower the temps.

@AresGamez if Throttle Stop dose not work try this method:

Next time you re-paste, consider using Honeywell PTM-7950. It will provide more consistent long term results.
Many popular pastes will pump out when used direct die on a mobile CPU.

in the 90s of Celsius in game
Some Acer laptops have lowered the default thermal throttling temperature from the Intel recommended value of 100°C down to only 92°C. Post some ThrottleStop screenshots including the main window, the FIVR and TPL windows. Turn on the Log File option and play a game for at least 15 minutes. This way you will have an accurate record of any throttling. Attach a log file to your next post if you need help understanding the reason why your laptop is throttling. Check the Nvidia GPU box in the ThrottleStop Options window so the Nvidia GPU performance data will be included in the same log file.

Has it ever been deep cleaned/repasted?
What OS is on it? Just thinking of CPU spikes due to lack of RAM and it having to wait for Pagefile to fill in
