MicroProse, the legendary developer and publisher known for its mastery of simulation and strategy games, is thrilled to announce its partnership with Divio to publish Liquidation. This explosive real-time strategy (RTS) game thrusts players into the war-torn world of Veá, where advanced technology clashes with arcane power, creating a rich and dynamic battlefield for RTS fans to conquer.

Starting today—January 20—players can sign up for the upcoming open playtest via Liquidation's Steam page. This first-time event will offer players who sign up the opportunity to be among the first to command their forces and explore the game's unique blend of genres, offering invaluable feedback that will help shape the final release.

Set in the wake of "The Splintering," a cataclysmic event that fractured the world of Veá, Liquidation plunges players into a brutal 38-year conflict known as The Quenrium War. As the formidable substance quenrium becomes both a source of power and destruction, four unique factions contend for control of the shattered world. Players will take command of their chosen faction, building cohesive armies, unlocking advanced technologies, and leveraging unique abilities to outsmart their enemies and secure dominance.

Key Features:
  • Tactical Depth Over Base-Building: Streamlined base-building gives way to intricate combat systems, where army composition, unit abilities, and adaptive strategies are the keys to victory.
  • Single-Player and Multiplayer Modes: Play alone or alongside friends in a gripping campaign or compete in online matches, complete with replays and community sharing.
  • Four Asymmetric Factions: Choose your faction, from the heavy artillery-focused Crusade to the relentless hordes of Corruption, and master their unique play styles to dominate the battlefield
  • Sci-fi Meets Fantasy: Explore the war-ravaged lands of Veá, shaped by the Splintering, where advanced technology and arcane power collide in a rich, immersive narrative.

Chris Ansell, CMO at MicroProse, shared his excitement, "We're proud to partner with Divio to bring Liquidation to strategy fans. Its rich universe, depth of gameplay, and compelling RTS mechanics make it a game that aligns perfectly with MicroProse's legacy of genre-defining experiences."

Prepare to take command, lead your forces, and determine the fate of Veá. Liquidation will launch into Early Access on Steam in 2025. Don't miss your chance to be among the first to experience the battle—sign up for the open playtest starting January 20, and wishlist the game on Steam now.

MicroProse still exists?

Wow, that's a name I haven't heard in decades. Cool to see them still doing stuff. I believe MicroProse was the original Civilization publisher, among a few other major hits back in the early 90s.

EDIT: As expected, I checked Wikipedia and it seems like Microprose was bought by Spectrum HolyByte, then sold to Hasbro, then sold to Infogrames, then Cybergun Group and now is under Atari.

Still, if MicroProse still has been bought by a "true fan" of those early 90s game and "David Lagettie" feels like using the MicroProse name again, I'm all for it. Original XCom and Civ1 / Civ2 are among the best games of all time.

Looks more like Warcraft to me actually.

You could be right but I never played Warcraft so I can't really say. What I can say is that dude looks like a primarch:

And I can't say what Legion looks like but Corruption and Scourge look very, very familiar. :D

Yeah even down to the ultra low poly count! Amazing!

Its like an unholy marriage of WoW and WH40K thrown into a meat grinder. Lots of nondescript shapes and weird looks that struggle to make sense. Great!

I remember MicroProse from the mid '80's back when Amstrad PC's w/DOS and a floppy were a thing.
