I remember the days we got creative with cable management, I used velcrow tape for my Antec SX830.

Little update on this. I have upgraded my main, so this gained my Ryzen 5 3600. I also put 16gb ram in it. Even though it's not green or OEM looking. I also put in a spare 256gb m.2 drive. Will probably add some mechanical storage. I'm planning on upgrading my main GPU and putting the 5700xt in here.

Also quieter fan but kept the avc sticker and grille

I am eventually going to put together a racing sim rig using this.
During Athlon XP/64 days you could get black, red, yellow and maybe blue or violet ddr dims.

I miss the days of LAN parties, where sleeper PC's were a hilarious thing =D

And terrifyingly, right next to the person who managed to cut and grind a dual Athlon MP system into a desktop P75 Packard Bell case, and was actually the host for the Battlefield game everyone was on - was someone using an actual stock eMachines with the integrated chipset graphics and playing at 12fps - but still having the time of their life lol.

Sorry for the mildly off topic, but yea sleeper machines are great. And best part is if you ever have concerns about anything cosmetically ... well don't LOL. It's whatever you could jam in there! You don't have a window on the sleeper! - unless of course, you want to hahah.

View attachment 337692View attachment 337693Sorry don't have more pics, can get if wanted but don't want to Off Topic. Just showing support for the sleeper concept LOL. This was an inadvertent build of what was on hand, started by having this Noctua low profile heatsink from a failed prior project and it being the only AM4 heatsink I had on hand... shoved it on as a temp... happened to look over and see the Vostro 220s case and... a laugh and "well, shiggles!" - Ryzen 3600 - GTX 750Ti - Asrock B450m. And now there's apparently a low profile RTX 4060 that can fit in this? ahhhh.. must resist compulsion to ... complete build i'll... never have a practical use for... lol

just noticed, it's that 2nd Radeon that gets it! LOL

I love slepers! :) A friend of mine has one with a 5700X3D and 7800 XT inside a case that he found next to a bin a couple years ago.

One just needs to be careful with airflow. Modern parts consume a lot more power and generate a lot more heat. Modern cases are made to handle it, but old ones weren't.

That friend of mine has to take the side of the case off half the time just to let the heat out. Not ideal, imo.

The onboard Ethernet decided it doesn't want to show up in device manager anymore despite being enabled in bios. Installed a server nic. I originally got these to install in my PC and NAS to backup over 10gbe, but because HPE and apparently buggy firmware it works on neither PC. It does seem to work with Gigabyte boards and some MSI models, including this one. So this will be a permanent addition to the slots.

Floppy drive works

The power supply in this is a very loud server beast. May look into putting another unit in here, but I like the ugly aesthetic of this one.

fab51... there's a memory I haven't had in awhile =)

I still have this motherboard - i should see if it still works lol. Also ECS/PCChips had some fun (and cheap!) boards if you were handy with an iron :D

10Gbase-T, FTW!
I have one of those same NICs (561T). Was sold as parts-only; seemed to work fine in most systems, until it overheated

So I found some more pics of the that chopped up PCChips board and the case it was in - sleeper PC circa 2006? lol.

I mean, it's technically still an AMD powered NEC pre-built right? :D

I'll spoiler so not to keep going off topic cause this thread is for RyzenMaster's specific sleeper, but hey maybe it's still moral support for the idea of silly Sleeper PC's =D

Anyway, keep on rocking on that sleeper PC RyzenMaster. The more jank the better honestly =D
