No one cares about gamers anymore, too much money in AI customers, they can keep prices high and still sell every single card, even AMD enjoys this to a smaller extent.

I wouldn't call selling 50 or 100 pcs. globally "enjoyment" - it's a psychic disorder of the practicing it, Lisa Su - time to go !

So what happens with the RTX 4080s and 4080 Supers right now, since I see absolutely no discount prices offered? Just see the ridiculous Amazon prices, for example.

Anyways, fuck this shit. There is absolutely ZERO PC game worth investing 1500€ (real price) for a graphics card at the moment. ZERO.
I challenge anyone that can say otherwise.

At this point if it's within 10% in real world gaming vs the 4090 it should at least mean the 5070 ti is going to be ok for $750 and probably the best of the 3 cards under the 5090

RTX 5080 reminds me GTX 770 refresh relese after GTX 670 more power consumption and only slightly more performance.

The key difference is the 770 was just a 680 lol but at least came pretty fast after the 600 series. This is over 2 years after the 4080.... The 700 series lead me to grabbing a 290X over it especially when it released at better than expected pricing let's hope the 9000 series at least replicates that somewhat and just ends up better and cheaper than competing Nvidia cards.

I had both at the time GTX 770 Directcu II and ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II (670) was way better at cooling and noise output something was not right with asus GTX 770 cooler. GTX 670 wasn't bad but GTX 970 Gaming 4G i liked more GTX 770 was the worst of them.

My 680s were lightning models in sli... which was a pain cuz my motherboard had barely enough room to accommodate... upgraded cuz 2GB of vram started running out of steam....

No I was being serious and that sucks the 5080 can't match 4090 performance.
Nvidia considers the 4090 performance as a "Professional" GPU already lol. The 4080 SUPER is the High-end and since the 5080 is getting closer to the 4090 then they didn't want to "beat" it. Sad but true... They just want to give us AI performance but not true/raw performance.

With all the new software coming out to fortify these cards, give it a few months and they will really stretch their legs.

If it does 34 Gbps and more on the memory side, the 4090 may be within 3%, but it can really make use of 24 Gbit density chips or it is incomplete.

I still have the 290X i bought on launch and put on water, runs great. It's one of the best GPU's i've ever bought. And then there were launch day reviews destroying it for the blower stock cooler, that being the focal point and not the performance or arch. Compared to the competing gtx 780 and 780ti, it was pretty much superior all around and aged a whole lot better with a much smaller die size to boot.

Overclocked like fire too. Then the GTX 970 launched a year later and 290X aged better than that one too even if you ignore the whole 3.5GB fiasco.

I sometimes wonder how things would have been had AMD not been scrapping for pennies at that time. They kept dragging GCN, then Raja decided to come in and make a big deal about Vega which was still pretty much GCN. So they basically dragged GCN from 2011 all the way till 2019 with VII's launch. It shows both how good an arch GCN was, and how broke AMD was to not have a new arch for almost a decade.

And yes, 5070ti seems like the best deal among the lineup at present. Sort of 4080S like performance for 750 is what I expect, which is great. But wait..isn't there something called 9070XT launching with slightly lower performance expectations? I guess it should slot right in between the 5070TI and 5070.

To be fair if Nvidia didn't cheap out with the RTX 50s the 5070 should have been a lot closer lol

100% agree and I'm not even trying to call him out I'm just saying his prediction wasn't that outlandish but Nvidia has cheaped out to the max although the 5070ti would have been the more sane prediction but that for damn sure isn't coming anywhere near it either lol.

This is basically looking like the 4080 super frame gen edition.....

Nvidia is claiming 15% over the 4080 the 4090 is 28% faster in raster but 33% faster in RT so it would need to be a hell of a lot faster than what they are claiming

You know what, this is starting to remind me of the 2xxx series where the RTX 2080 was equal to the 1080 Ti and the 2080 Ti cost a bomb. But check out the prices back then vs AIB cards. The FE is more expensive. This seems to have been reversed by what cards (5090) W1z has just published.

RTX 2080 Ti$9994352641350 MHz1545 MHz1750 MHzTU10218600M11 GB, GDDR6, 352-bit
RTX 2080 Ti FE$11994352641350 MHz1635 MHz1750 MHzTU10218600M11 GB, GDDR6, 352-bit
I have problem with this

Jenson top on stage price in hand said on video. ( You check MLID youtube he literally showed the video of him saying this price)
Bottom Nvidia's Actual price on their website for MSRP for the FE card
Rest of the cards in other stores $1,350.

This was the case for the 1080 and 2080ti at launch the FE was higher than MSRP meaning all AIB either matched the FE in price or were more expensive the Gaming X 1080 for example was 720 usd at launch even though the make believe MSRP was $599...... The 2080ti as you say was 1200+ the majority of it's life at the end a couple 999 usd models popped up but they were blower style if I am remembering correctly.

For some reason the 1080ti FE and MSRP were identical....

It should have been at least 15% faster as the 4090 to keep the usual generational uplift.
But being this slow means this generation is like an Intel refresh.

At this point if it's within 10% in real world gaming vs the 4090 it should at least mean the 5070 ti is going to be ok for $750 and probably the best of the 3 cards under the 5090
Sadly the 5070Ti won't have a FE, meaning there will be no cards at 750$.

Well IMHO anyone on higher end 4000 series shouldn't upgrade at all. It's not any shocker that 5080 is slower than 4090. This release is more for folks still on 2000/3000 series. And if you need VRAM then 5090 is: YES.

Me personally maximum CUDA and VRAM which makes 5090 obvious jumping from 3090 for 2.5x rendering uplift/card. But we'll see still plenty of optimizations when it comes to compute in next 4-6 months so it may be even nicer. For gaming surely nobody needs 5090.

As another poster mentioned earlier on, this would be the FIRST ever generation where the x80 card fails to match or beat the consumer flagship card of the previous generation, so even if it's not surprising due to the spec leaks/reveal from NVIDIA, it's still extremely disappointing.

Looking at TPU's own Relative Performance data from GTX 980 onwards:-

GTX 980 was 11% faster than the GTX 780TI
GTX 1080 was 31% faster than the GTX 980TI
RTX 2080 was 9% faster than the GTX 1080TI
RTX 3080 was 36% faster than the RTX 2080TI
RTX 4080 was 30% faster than the RTX 3090

Even the much maligned Turing based x80 was faster than the previous flagship and that generation was considered a colossal disappointment, so what does that make Blackwell lol.

In conversations with friends, I refer to the 5080 as 5075.

Since 5070 = 4090 but 5080 < 4090 then 5080 < 5070? And I thought AMD had a strange naming change but ok.
You got to be careful, Nvidia has dispatched it's reputation protection unit. I would advise changing the comment to something like "I love frame generation, it is the best"

When was the last time ? People were buying overpriced RTX 40 Series like a crazy without even thinking twice. If this will continue the same way with RTX 50 Series situation with RTX 60 Series will be even worse p/p wise.

you replied to a post about the *080 on a topic about the 5080, with a general comment about all nvidia cards to my comment on the 80 class card, and then you pretend like i mentioned all nvidia cards, ask a silly question, followed by whatever you want to talk despite replying to something else. It's a true work of art of brain malfunctioning

I expected them to discount them greatly on Black Friday / Christmas season, but that didn't happen. That was such a stupid move, it was the perfect time to move old stock out of the market.
