Hey people , I've made some new changes lately and apparently i needed a new cooler for my CPU so i did it . Now when i look in my case i dont like the look of the TT cooler :( It does the job but maybe i should have gone RGB Water cooled ? I had the Wraith prism and loved the look of it and Size / shape before. don't get me wrong I'm not really into glowing cases but this just looks like a brick ! :D here are some pics...am i being an idiot ? i dont know

Looks fine to me.

Colour and style is very subjective. I like understated non-rgb builds. Other people like a rave inside their case. Nobody else but you can tell you if youre doing it right or wrong because they aren't you and they don't have to live with the end result as you do.

Personally. I think it looks fine. Although you may want to switch the fans out for RGB ones if like that more.

I'd clean the PC first from dust and cable mess before worrying about the CPU cooler's looks

Then I'd just get some good quality RGB fans to add some bling. The CPU heatsink itself looks fine to me visually.

It looks fine. Anyway, that’s why I prefer solid panel cases that are on a stand under the table - don’t have to care about looks.

Were you shopping with your eyes closed?
You don’t? What are you, casul? The only valid shopping is putting random stuff into your cart without looking at the screen.

FWIW every air tower looks like this, although some don't add the ungodly amount of plastic and badge this TT one has.

I run two white LED strips. and 3x white LED Corsair ML140s although the LEDs on those fans have come to the end of their service life and started to get pretty dim. The build itself is very understated but my phone has added a lot more glow than usual despite me turning HDR off when taking the picture but it gives you some idea.

I like it the pre-RGB way.

Is that the Frost Vortex 140 SE? Swear I saw a similar build on another forum.

Phantom Spirit.
Ah. I'm debating whether to pick up a Frost Vortex until this next generation Noctua 120mm cooler releases. Difficult to find much information about the aforementioned card though. Personally more interested in function over form.

Stick with the tried and tested Phantom Assassin. The fans on the Frost Vortex look inferior to what comes with the PA and PS.

Power requires adequate cooling to achieve maximum performance.

Appearance is irrelevant.

a fake water cooler has somewhere else it'S fake metal like aluminum which is huge in size.

This is the usual size for a proper cooler. Although i dislike the thermal take branding. that looks ugly.

Just return it and buy something else.

I would not recommend any bequiet cpu tower cooler. Mine is problematic in my case, my mainboard, my cpu, my cpusocket.

Looks are subjective. Personally, I prefer a clean, minimalist style, that's why I tend to choose Be Quiet!

I've heard lots of great things about Noctua, but brown is a big no-no for me.

How so? I've never had any problem with them.

to the original topic poster. I'm sorry to post something which is not related to your question. I beg your pardon.

How so? I've never had any problem with them.

I should have finished writing my "userreview for the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 5" for the website hardwareluxx.de The promised thermal paste arrived too late.

Personally I dislike doing a bad job. That's why I left it as it. And for some reason the months are gone.
I'm someone who think about things. I want to do it better and I had no real idea about how to do it properly.

The initial question I had how the cooler will perform without disturbance from the case. I did not continue with the user review for various reasons.
It's not that bad. I run that box since I stopped writing on that user review without top fans or front fans. I think around 15th of april 2024 the computer is at it is.

Than I wanted to compare it with the full case and full fans.

The computer is quite low noise. There are no front fans as of now. Only one back Noctua fan. And the very quiet Powercolor 7800XT Hellhound.

For some reasons there is some sort of humming noise in certain rpm ranges of the air cooler from bequiet. (I'm talking about hte be-quiet cpu tower cooler)

When I press with my finger at that passive cooler on the mainboard some noise vanish at certain rpm ranges.

That air cooler has very annoying frequency for 4 different rpm speed. I tested that in uefi wiht setting the speed for any temperature to a fixed value.

I think the glass side panel block certain frequencies. I put the computer 1meter away from my ears. Usually audio for fans is measured in one meter distance.

A few days ago I thought about changing back to the noctua nh-d15 cooler or just completing the case.

pressure_point.jpg

I did not want to write something bad - so I left that hardwareluxx review without any further update. I do not want to write something when I do not have facts. That custom CPU AM5 socket could also cause issues. I should also check if a screw went a bit loose for the mainboard and such. I should also check every non visible screw from the asus mainboard.

CPU_Sockel_Montagebruecken.jpg

If I have to choose between Noctua NH-D15 and the be quiet one. I take the noctua one.
I dislike that mounting system bequiet has.

Schraubendreher_Luefer_festziehen.jpg

The case does not look that worse for an open case setup since middle of april 2024.

I gotta say the DRP 4 I had from BeQuiet was okay but installation was indeed not fantastic and overall its just way too expensive. Also, more personally, I don't think the new revisions look that good. The DRP4 by comparison looks so much better, but again, personal :D

Now when i look in my case i dont like the look of the TT cooler

It does the job

am i being an idiot ?
IMO, yes. You are being an idiot. But that's just my opinion (and nothing personal - idiot was your word! ;)).

For me, I EXPECT and DEMAND my cases sit quietly and discreetly off to the side and NOT be distracting or draw attention to themselves. After all, it's what's happening on my monitors that's important - to me.

I don't like ugly. I don't like messy or dirty. So aesthetics are important, but performance and practicality are more important. So I keep the inside of my cases neat and tidy, with good cable management. And I keep the inside of my cases clean of heat trapping dust. Neat, tidy and clean are what make a good looking computer interior, to me. And my cases meet those requirements.

But most importantly, I ensure my cases are providing a sufficient supply of cool air flowing through the case - quietly. And all my cases are doing that too. And so it seems yours is too.

Do you sit around for hours and gaze in wonder at the interior of your cases? Or do you concentrate on your monitors and get irritated by distractions?

I don't like distractions and I pay attention to my monitors. For those reasons, I am not a fan of RGB lighting either. It does nothing for performance, consumes some power, generates some heat, and does nothing for performance (worth repeating).

That said, I do enjoy driving around and looking at houses all decorated and lit up for Christmas. But if the lights are not down by New Years, even they get old, distracting, and boring - especially since they do nothing for performance! ;)

HOWEVER - that's just my opinion. I would never spend $10,000 on a fancy, custom paint job for my truck either. But that does not mean I would not appreciate the work that went into one - even though it would do nothing for performance (except, maybe, in my head). More likely I would just be afraid to drive it for fear of a rock chip, door ding, or worse, accident.

Even so, once I got used to my fancy paint job, the novelty would wear off and it would then become, once again, just a truck. At least I could drive around and maybe turn some heads. But my computer just sits quietly and discreetly off to the side, on the floor of my computer room. Not many new heads come by to turn there.
