AMD Denies Radeon RX 9070 XT $899 USD Starting Price Point Rumors

I have yet to see any AMD card which look like it was supposed to be $899usd, most of the designs are more plain looking, not so RGB gamer-y. A 3 fan design and 3x 8 pin power connectors isn't that expensive to add to a card. The nvidia users are excited for rumors of a failure, yet at the same time complain there is no competition.

I mean, $549 for RTX 4090 performance! It's almost a steal! :p

It's cheap enough that made whatever amd was planning sink harder than the titanic. Think about it logically for more than 10 seconds, if the uber expensive uber anemic 5070 was enough to drive amd into complete panic, what kind of crap were they planning on serving us?

Yup. just look at the MBA RX 9070 XT card. That card is not looking like it's a $499 model like the RX 7800 XT. It a premium triple fan cooler with a nice shroud. Not some basic dual fan design. This card is designed with a much higher price point in mind than $499 or even $599...

Blaezalite mentioned these cards supposedly only exist for promotional purposes, although I'm not sure just how true that is:

Yeah the original MSRP was 849$ :slap:
Show em azor

It's better to just come clean or say nothing at all. Way to put water on a grease fire.
Because AMD is trying to be technically correct. Yes, the plan wasn't 899, it was up to 879$. So they aren't lying, but they are also missing the point.
Yeah, it was never meant to cost $899. That means anything higher or lower is technically correct. This tweet is just damage control.
I still estimate RX 9070 XT to cost no less than $599 MSRP, while most wise price would be $529.

While I do prefer AMD over Intel or Nvidia, RX 9070 series launch is a royal marketing disaster.
It's like really bad: no introduction at CES, retailers are angry - stocked but not allowed to sell, broken ads, 23rd January launch moved to March.
Fire that Azor already, ffs. And whole marketing dept. along with him.
AMD, see how Intel is doing marketing with B700 series: B700 series to be launched later in 2025. Technically correct while also preventing a shitshow.

I don't know what theyll end up launching for, but 599$ was NEVER in the cards either, not pre CES. 699$ was the absolute MINIMUM, even according to AMD's own words. They literally said that it's going to be closer to the 7900xt rather than the 7800xt. So it couldn't have been lower than 699 by definition.

Yeah, but $599 will be next maximum, given the competitors pricing. No one from green team will ever assume switching to red side when RTX 9070 XT delivers similar performance to RTX 5070 and costs much more. That's why I think the $529 is the most reasonable price. Maybe Nvidia is now angry at themselves about setting MSRP for 5070 so low. :D

Yup.. I also have a feeling people are expecting these cards to be much cheaper than they will end up being. Again, just take a look at the leaked card. Those are not cheap looking models.

Assuming you are talking about the XT I can see it selling at 549$- 599$ if FSR 4 is actually decent and it has the promised RT performance increases. 12 vs 16gb is a big selling point at that price range. They will shoot themselves in the foot if the try to price it against the 5070ti though because then it completely loses the VRAM advantage.

I don't think you will find many RTX 5070 cards at that price though.. Just look at the leaked RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 prices...

Nah, 5070 has a relatively small chip with a fairly low TDP by modern standards, so no real need for elaborate cooling. It will be much easier for AIB partners to have models that hit or land very close to MSRP than it is with the 5090. Plus, there’s no “halo card effect” to justify pumping up the price tag. Obviously, we’ll see, but it shouldn’t be the apocalyptic nonsense of Asus asking 800 more for the Astral on the already 2000 dollar card.

So Nvidia thinks we all have 10.000$ battlestations pc's at home and AMD thinks midrange gpus are at 700-900$.

Guys, do you even think? I read the comments and don't see the most important - in order to justify a price tag of $900, this card must be at least 20-30% faster than the 24GB RX 7900 XTX, and even then, over time the games will make it bottleneck because of the miserable 16 GB VRAM. :kookoo:

Nvidia, or AMD to a lesser extent, won't care about the gaming market unless the AI bubble pops, or people stop buying expensive GPU's. We're all screwed as consumers as we get upscaling being sold as a performance improvement and the gains from previous gen aren't worth the price.

It's Nvidia who is undercutting the AIB's by pricing their FE card at $2000, every other AIB can't compete on price and thats why EVGA dropped out of the GPU market.

The 7900xtx will go EOL though, you won't be able to find them. Same thing happened last gen btw, by the time the 7800xt launched for 499$ you could fine the 6800xt for that money. The 9070xt is a smaller cheaper to make chip so it makes sense to replace the XTX with it (I mean it makes sense for amd).

If I get the performance of a 7900xtx in a RX9070 with lower power for $600 or less I'm willing to consider buying the card. Obviously, the lower the price the better, but the performance level of at least 7900xtx must be there. If everything is marked green except the price being higher, I'm out.

Gotta agree with you there, it's getting awfully crowded in the $549-$999 space! You'd have to have a very hard budget limit to spend $849 on a 9070XT rather than $999 on a 5080.

AMD Denies Radeon RX 9070 XT $899 USD Starting Price Point Rumors

the fabulous price will be according to my teapot 898.99 US DOLLAR. Not $899. A bit cheaper. Rumours are false. Go ahead. Nothing to see. Nothing to discuss.

I think I saw that topic also today at PCGH. When there are so many talks about AMD graphic cards in our bubble - will it lead to more sold amd graphic cards? Probably not.

Maybe amd should also publish outdated games with newer screenshots like riding wizard 2000, car driving simulator with reflections, the many of none to name a few fabulous awesome staggering breathtaking games for the commodore 68. Finally there is mod support for riding wizard 2000 (sarcasm - hopefully)

--

That price topic is such waste of time. Still reading the comments.

-- edit: I honestly agree 16GiB VRAM is not much anymore. Was bare minimum 2023 but we have 2025. And please no odd numbers. 24GiB VRAM should be the next standard, not some other odd numbers. DRAM is not that expensive. Only expensive is the bigger pcb size because of more dram chips

The more I think about it, the less I think it has to do with 5000 series pricing. It’s not really significantly lower or better.

5070 -$50
5070Ti -$50
5080 same
5090 +$400

I can’t really see these differences throwing AMD off. It’s more likely many here are trying to get excited about buying a 5000 series chip at ‘lower’ prices. You only save with the 5070 series just enough to go out to dinner…once.

Nah there’s another reason for the delay and Nvidia is still charging shit prices that are way too high.

999? For a 5080? Haha, good one. Now I hope prices will go down, but the first stock is going to be over 1.6k for the cheap models.

That's fair, whilst I've no doubt some FE cards will sell for the $999 MSRP, it'll probably be about 12 of them worldwide & every other AIB model will be WAY higher yes. But do we expect the AMD cards to be widely available at MSRP? I'd have thought the street price markup would be fairly similar on both sides, maybe a bit higher for Nvidia with their better brand recognition & higher sales numbers.
