Hi all, I have not seen a tear down and high resolution circuit picture of Gigabyte 5090 Master. Though the thermal is kind of good, I have seen no information on the VRM Mosfet specs, like how many phases and current ratings?
4090 Aorus Master should have 24x50a which was not quite good compared to other flagships. Not sure what is used in 5090?

Thanks for any information.

The AORUS 5090 has the highest Boost Clocks out of all the 5090 AIB variants (2655MHz vs 2407MHz for 5090 FE) so they better use better VRMs haha.

looks like gigabyte went from having one of the worst VRMs in the 40 series to having the best one this gen.

i see panasonic aluminum polymer caps littered around the core. there is a fuse on the PCI-E slot. msi suprim, which had the best 4090, now uses capacitors from the bargain bin on their 5090.

Honestly though, does it really matter ? Not unless you're going to do extreme ln2 overclocking.

From the 5 4090s i tested, i found that "higher quality" 4090's correlated directly with more coilwhine (4090 strix being the worst in regards to coilwhine, but "best board")... hence why i chose a gigabyte card in the end.

yes. it matters A LOT. there were mountains of dead gigabyte 3000 series cards with blown caps and melted drmos. their 3000 cards were terrible. i work a shop that repairs electronics, including GPUs. we literally had 6 foot stacks of dead gigabyte cards pretty much at all times with rejected RMA stickers on them. they always blamed cracked PCBs even when there were no cracks at all and in reality it was just a terribly designed product that came to an early death. the 3080/3090 gaming, windforce, aurus, etc they were all basically the same card.

i had to tell many people that they were SOL on their $2000 GPUs because gigabyte decided to save a few dollars. this time it's msi doing the penny pinching.

you don't have to take my word for it, there are people who do what i do and have youtube channels and they talk about these same issues

I won't argue against gigabyte being low quality products, cause they obviously are - but there's a difference between cheap vrm etc and decidedly faulty ones / faulty design. I haven't seen anyone having the experiences you mentioned with gigabytes 4090 cards. That said, of the 5 4090s i tested, the gigabyte card was unquestionably the one that felt and looked the cheapest. Unfortunately other brands don't appear to care about coilwhine at all, and coilwhine is my nr1 criteria, as in i don't want it on my gpu at all, and everything else is secondary to that. Such a shame, cause the strix was amazing in every other way.

Better hope their 'revisions' dont cheap out on the components.

Yep, had the same problem with the suprim/Tuf both had annoying AF coil whine. So giga it was even though the other two models where nicer.
