On the french store website the launch was supposed to be at 3 PM but at 3:00:01 it was literally saying "out of stock", so we thought either there were like single digit number of cards or none at all, but randomly about 40 minutes later it displayed "buy now" for around 2 minutes. During that time the website was buggy and crashing and it was hard to make a purchase, but i got lucky and mine worked.

Tbh when the website showed "buy now" i had lost hope at that time, just kept randomly refreshing while browsing news on the net and it happened

The thing is, I want to make the jump to 4k dual displays but not to a 4090/5090 series card as I don't want a space heater for a PC. While a 5080 might be just good enough, it's a disappointment. I might just have to wait for a 5080ti or justify a $1000 for a subpar card. Maybe the 5070/5070ti might be surprising?

With how the releases are going 5080 > close to 4090 in Raz > 5070 likely going to be close to 4080 then Ti slightly above it. My prediction anyway.

I don't think anything less than a 5080 Ti will be in the vicinity of impressive (I don't even find the 5090 raw output impressive).

The only thing the 5080 has going for it versus the 4090 is it costs less. The raw performance is underwhelming.

considering second hand 4090 costs 3-3.6k aud and the 5080 at 2.1-2.4k aud if you buy the 5080 in AU it is a very very good deal.

I always wait at least two generations between upgrades, so my 3080 is safe for a couple more years. (My last three cards were 560Ti >> 970 >> 3080.) Actually, I should do a monitor upgrade before I retire the 3080; my 1440p monitor celebrated its 9th birthday right before Christmas.

I camped out Tustin's Microcenter since Tuesday; got a 5090 on Thursday morning! Finished up some preliminary OC + stress testing last night. +275 core, +1000 memory. Definitely can push memory more but for now I'm just waiting for MH Wilds to drop so I can let this rip!

it might be, even my bx500 is not working with it, it does play connect / disconnect sound but doesn't show up in file manager or disk management. Though, amazon stopped taking returns (atleast for electronics ig) but i will try my best like previous time when i returned the controller.

It will also be used for other hobbies.
