On top of matching ram kits, it'll depend on what exactly you have now if it'll be worth it get same kit or upgrade to better speeds and/or timings.

I'll echo the advice given about matching RAM speeds. But if you replace the existing RAM then you can generally go with whatever you like as long as the XMP speeds are supported. Acer PC don't all support XMP so the fastest RAM you might be able to use is DDR4-2666. This is why I asked for a photo of the inside of the system. We'll be able to identify what parts(motherboard included) and thus be able to better help you with what upgrade options you can utilize.

Decided to get a new build instead! I financed it over 3 years. Supposedly it was a $6000 (Canadian) build on sale for $2200! Maybe I got ripped off, lol.

Do share. You might have been in for a good deal.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700x
GPU: AMD Radeon Powercolor Red Devil RX 7900XT
Corsair RM850 power supply
32 GB DDR5 RAM
Motherboard appears to be an MSI of some sort.
Gaming keyboard and mouse (generic I guess).

Already had an MSI monitor. 1440 native rather than 4k, so might update that soonish

New? That's decent price in Canadian dollars.

The 7900XT is fair shout for 4k. You'll need to turn a few settings down(depending on the game) but otherwise you'll get a good performance.

Yes, new. Liquid cooling too with an additional 6 fans.

That's just an extra connector from the PSU, no worries there.
Ah, thanks. I appreciate all your feedback over the past month regarding all this stuff. Fingers crossed that the GPU mounting is okay! It did come with a 3 year warranty as well so...not too bad. I wonder if I plug the specs into Newegg to see how much it would cost...if it really is a $6000 system?

Not even remotely close to a $6k worth system. Sounds like they marked it up and tossed on a sale to make it look good.

where in Canada are you? I have a few 3070Ti's I can part out. Just sitting around right now, but they have been tested and cleaned. Came from other builds.

GPU, RAM, and DLSS/FSR.

IMO this is exactly the use case for upscaling tech, you have an older GPU and want to stretch the performance, then really lean on DLSS to get the framerate you're looking for.

FSR has kept my 980TI relevant for so much longer than it would have been otherwise, actually managed to play through Hogwarts Legacy on the thing thanks to FSR.

You really should re-seat and secure that video card. Makes me nervous.

I'm in calgary, so if you wish you can pm me. Up to you
Actually just got a pre build from Canada Gaming Computers - located in Calgary. Looks like the video card might need to get remounted. Oh well...that's the risk you take I guess.

I might still upgrade my old PC though...so I will keep your offer in mind. Thanks again.

Never heard of them. Usually I would say keep eye on memoryexpress since they usually have decent builds on sale.
