Overclockers UK Expecting Next Batch of GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs in 3 to 16 Weeks

Overclockers UK (OcUK)—a well-known PC hardware retailer—has revealed estimated timeframes for renewed stock of GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 graphics cards. Late last week, its various web presences informed potential customers about anticipated lead times. The company's blog disclosed that: "due to incredibly high demand and limited stock, all 50 Series cards sold shortly after launch with some pre-orders taken in restricted quantities." New GeForce RTX 5090 stock is expected to arrive at the OcUK warehouse in about three to sixteen weeks. The British store reckons that they will receive GeForce RTX 5080 cards in two to six weeks time. TechPowerUp picked up on various online predictions—a week before the market launch of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs—pointing to extremely low numbers of forthcoming launch stock. An OcUK employee disclosed that their inventory—of GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards—was in single digits.

OcUK's dedicated RTX 50-series blog includes an apology—apparently their webstore experienced an outage shortly before launch time. They also informed customers about external factors affecting the re-opening of order books: "we have no plans to take pre-orders for any 50 Series cards until we have greater clarity on availability and have fulfilled the pre-orders we have taken." VideoCardz has discovered an informative post on the Megekko.nl discussion forum—where a new member has shared insider information. Board partners and suppliers are complaining about difficult conditions, according to the leaker's sources—they believe that ASUS and MSI have been forced into releasing forthcoming RTX 5090 stock via a staggered batch system (see screenshot below). The Verge has reached out to NVIDIA for comment—regarding shortages at launch—their request was not entertained.

There is basically no 5000 series stock and because Nvidia decided to stop 4000 series production, the prices of last gen cards has shot up. The 4090, 4080, 7900 XTX, 7900 XT are sold out but even if you do find them in stock their prices are significantly higher than they were a few months ago.

Nvidia screws over gamers again.

OCUK also just got the 7900xt back in for £620. Really got no idea why there's any demand for the 5x series, basically identical performance to cards that were launched 2 years ago.

My guess, is that in 6 months 5x series prices will collapse, because there's no real demand for them. Only withholding supply and launching with zero volume pretty much is keeping prices up for now...

There is basically no 5000 series stock and because Nvidia decided to stop 4000 series production, the prices of last gen cards has shot up. The 4090, 4080, 7900 XTX, 7900 XT are sold out but even if you do find them in stock their prices are significantly higher than they were a few months ago.

Nvidia screws over gamers again.

Let's stop the tribalism. There's a large number of RX 9070's sitting on shelves that can't/won't be sold and Battlemage is MIA.

This isn't Nvidia vs AMD vs Intel, it's corporations against consumers.

There are dozens of articles and videos demonstrating that stock was in fact extremely poor. Stock trackers verify that as well. Unless you are saying that every piece of data, video, and article to date is wrong, how much demand there was is a moot point given we know stock was low.

High demand doesn't mean anything when stock was so low it might as well have been a paper launch. This defense for Nvidia isn't necessary when lots of reviewers have said supply was nearly non existent.

AMD has the perfect chance to have a good launch if they don't manage to screw something up and have plenty of stock.

Highly probable the 9070xt won't be any better than 7900xt... which you can already get for 620. It'll be slightly cheaper probably 550ish, but slower at rasta and less Vram.

At least that's what the card spec and rumours make it seem likely. This gpu gen is going to be a massive flop.

Nothing much new over what you could get in 2022, just slightly lower prices.

I disagree. Sclapers exist because of scarcity. They could have been more production of RTX 40X0 all last year to avoid this, and of course more prod of 50X0.

Today I found first RTX 5090 actualy 'in stock' in my country at a retail shop (it was MSI Gaming Trio). The price was .. 4.760 euro. Yeah, and I thought nothing will surprise me anymore..

The rumors are the 9070xt will at least be better in RT than the 7900XT, it might not make sense for anyone owning a 7900XT.
New GPU's from AMD or Nvidia don't seem to be exciting at all, Blackwell seems to be a refresh of the 40 series Super cards, and with news of 5090's failing I wouldn't buy one even if I could afford the steep scalper prices.

Demand was so high... Well I'd say it's mostly Professionals trying to buy a 5090 because of the 32GB VRAM & huge Memory Bandwidth!
The 5090 is CPU limited in most games when not playing at Native 4K even with a 9800X3D ! And let's be honest very few gamers have a 9800X3D AND a 4K@240Hz monitor (which MFG was created for but is an extremely niche market).

You can rent gpu time for LLMs or ML generally, much cheaper and more efficient than using a consumer card like 5090.

Scalpers are clearly a problem, but they can only prosper with limited stock. If the cards are in stock at msrp, they all lose money.

Looking at the 5090 bricking issues, it's possible nvidia were concerned with the quality of the cards. So a small launch. The other possibility is its deliberate, to justify the launch prices.

A pretty decent chance, if there's volume of these cards in 3 to 6 months, prices collapse...

True, but there are so many scalpers doing it that its hard to get enough supply. Not saying there is enough but I am just saying that there are loads of scalpers doing this.

4090 was being bought up like crazy for AI purposes, 5090 is getting same treatment. Nvidia is allocating where they are getting more money. I doubt the bricking issue is the reason for supply chain problems otherwise they would have held back the release. I mean right now the 4090 was still above everything else so they didn't need to release anything.
