Hey everyone. I am interesting in this motherboard for my Ryzen 9950X build. Problem is, I have no idea what the power connector is next to the 24 pin main power connector. Do I need to plug a power cable to that connection? Or will the 24 pin be fine? My Corsair HX1000i might not have that cable for it.

It's auxillary power for M.2 and PCIe slots. If you fully populated the motherboard, it will be too much for the 24pin.

Just need a spare 6pin pin PCIe cable. Doesn't the HX1000i have 6?

Get your motherboard manual out and read it, that will tell you what you need to know

24 pin connection alone is fine unless you are doing something extreme with the system.

It is a feature you don't need and will never use, created by motherboard manufacturers that have run out of other ways to charge you more for less.

Extreme as in using all the M2 slots?
Probably not possible given how limited the Zen 4/5 IOD is

You are missing the point of that connector. Has nothing to do with the CPU, its auxillary for everything but the CPU VRM. I had 7 M.2 in my X670 ACE and all the PCIe slots filled.
