My order will likely be only fulfilled by March... anything earlier is based on pure luck :(
Same here I was told Mid March at the earliest.

As someone who loves to tweak, a possible 10-12% or so performance does make it a more tempting proposition. I was only able to get about 3% over stock on my 3080 so opted for undervolting to maintain stock perf and lessen the heat and power draw. If I recall 40 series weren't really getting more than a few %, maybe 5ish tops too.
Only 3% more performance with overclocking? Did you set the power target & voltage to max? Or are you talking about Undervolting + Overclocking at the same time?

From my understanding it's not done in-driver, you have to use a third-party app?

I never owned a 40 series, but given multiple reviewers and users are talking about 5080 overclocking being impressive, especially relative to the last few years, it would seem it overclocks better.

As for my 3080, I think maybe I also didn't win the silicon lottery there, anything above mid to high 1800mhz range drastically starts to suck more power and the board power limit I had was 370w. Anything that truly loaded the card up to the max saw clocks quickly fall from 1900-2000mhz when I was trying to the 1800 range anyway with max power limit.

I wasn't interested in bios's to unlock even more power for diminishing returns, so I made a couple UV profiles, 1860mhz using 285-300w typically, and 1710mhz using 220-230w.

For a 5080 it seems people are getting 10% or so at roughly the same power as stock, so 360w or less.

Didn't try it on the 5080 but back when I had 3080 it was done in MSI afterburner by setting a voltage curve. Should work the same on 50 series though.
That's what I'm missing from having 7900XTX, full on overclocking/undervolting solution in the driver app. Auto OC in Nvidia App is underwhelming.

MSI Afterburner's curve editor will do the trick. Ctrl+F and lower the voltage point until you get crashes

The RTX 30s were definitely power limited and power hungry lol. My 3090 was almost always hitting it's power target, in comparison my 4090 is almost never reaching its TDP... I need to use Path Tracing and max settings at 4K lol.

But yeah the 5080 seems to be good at Overclocking, the 5090 could do more if not limited to 600W (all models since none of them has 2x 16-pin connectors).

But the RTX 30s are great at Undervolting! Nvidia pushed them too hard @ Stock imo.

100% agree.

My cooling setup relies on filtered positive pressure (through the radiators) to help exhaust the heat.
With the massive brick pumping out 550~600W into the case, I am having to crank my exhaust fans up, for the first time ever

I can only imagine, how hot and loud a SSF system would be, with a RTX 5090 FE dumping 575W into it o_O

Do we know of any watercooled 5090s with the pump being on the block instead of the radiator? No chance im getting an aircooled 700w monster, but in my case (fractal torrent) I can only put a radiator at the bottom, so this kinda sucks.

Yeah that's why I wanna buy a 5090 with an AIO. I already have an MSI 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X and when using Cyberpunk 2077 @ 4K Psycho settings + Path Tracing, it definitely spreads some heat! Lol.
Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition is even the only game that pushes my 4090 to the max TDP almost constantly (530W) and oh my, the room gets really hot after an hour!

AORUS have 2 models, 1 with AIO and 1 with Waterblock

Finally found out what is causing the issue with clocks being lower than expected at ~2700 instead of ~2800. It's the Auto Tuning option in Nvidia app.
Even if I turned it off after I have run it once, it would still not help. DDU was needed, then ran it without touching it and it was fine.
Ran the Auto OC once, it raised clocks by 100MHz but after restart they were lower by 100 than the default again.

Afterburner works fine though, currently testing at +400MHz on core and +375MHz on memory. Anyone knows why Wizzard mentioned in the reviews that higher memory OC is locked? It seems that in Afterburner I can raise them up to +2000.

(Note to self, never use the NVidia App. It's as useless as GFE was..)

I don't think W1zzard uses AfterBurner in reviews.

Overall I like to use the app instead of control panel. Everything is clear and you can easily swap DLSS versions used by games. I also got used to nice looking menus when I was using Radeon software. But yeah Auto OC option is useless.

So far I went 400 on core and 1000 on memory, trying to crash it but so far stable. Memory isn't erroring out as perf improvement is there so, so far so good.
Also it's clear how scarce those cards are considering I'm in the first place in 3d mark Port Royal and Speedway in my country with not even trying hard:roll:

Too much work, and family, to really get to play with the new GPU out here so far
Good to hear that Afterburner has extended memory OC limits, though!

Since it has been a while since I needed to check a GPU OC for stability...
Can you guys recommend any good benchmarks/stress tests for stability testing?
Besides just gaming, of course :)

Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk are on my short list of stress test games; anything else that is extremely OC sensitive I should have in mind?

Specifically for tuning the memory, is UNIGINE Heaven in windowed mode still the preferred method?
As I recall from my 3070 adventures, the memory can go quite a bit higher than is stable, thanks to the ECC, to the point of loosing performance.
Though, as dated as Heaven is, I would guess it will end up being CPU limited by my 5800X, and not show any differences from the memory tuning...

Too bad GDDR does not throw WHEA errors (I believe ), as that would make everything quite a bit easier!

Get a cheap second hand handheld gaming device and use steamlink, I play with my kids during the day then pop on the ally every now and then so I am not chained to my desk works amazingly well.

In my current line of work our official way to stress test GPU stability and temps is Furmark.

I would love to be able to game with the kids more!
The wife, though, has other thoughts on the matter :slap:

Yeah, I used to love Furmark, way back in the day.
Unless it has been improved recently though, as far as I recall, GPU drivers limit power draw in Furmark, making it less useful for testing boost clocks.
As well, GDDR ECC corrects many errors (at a loss of performance), making the error detection less than accurate :(

Though, now that I look, I see that Furmark 2 was released, and is still under active development, so I will have to check it out!
