So, after day 6 or one that exact day why can't Nvidia adjust their prices?
NVIDIA can do it easily, reviewers will hardly adjust though.

If AMD has something fairly decent in the 9070 XT which leaks seem to suggest it's maybe better than the projected performance of the 5070Ti then they absolutely need to get that reviewed before the 5070 & 5070Ti because what always ends up happening is Nvidia will get their reviews in and sure they haven't been great lately but uninformed buyers will say "well there isn't anything else on offer so what choice do I have", and then even after the 9070 XT is out people will still be Googling "Nvidia GPU reviews" then reading/watching those which again don't have the 9070 XT in it!

But if AMD released their cards first, and obviously need to be at a way more attractive price than the already known 5070 and 5070Ti prices then the Nvidia reviews would be absolutely DOA, but if they release after then the buys that just glance at end performance chart will just think "ok it's not great but what choice do I have?!"

Basically, AMD shouldn't want to see a single 5070 or 5070Ti review out there that doesn't have a 9070XT on there showing it's faster (this this is right) and it's cheaper (if AMD wants market share).

AMD take the lead, be bold, give customers a no brainer this generation!

reviewers can't adjust to what?!?!
the price won't be announced the same day the cards are reviewed. There's is a long time period between price announcement and reviews going live.

Get ready for 5x series style massive disappointment me thinks...
Hardware-wise, it should be good. Price-wise, unknown but prolly not as cheap as hyped. Availability-wise, a massive disappointment since people should already have been able to have them installed in their computers since January.

AMD take the lead, be bold, give customers a no brainer this generation!
They could perfectly have done that one month ago already... except these incompetents messed up.
So much for leading and being bold.

I don't know how many of you were enthusisats back when the HD4000 series cards released?
But in my opinion, what AMD needs to do is to release the RX9070XT and RX9070 the same way they did the HD4890/70/50.
Provide 90% to 95% of the performance in comparison to NVidia's RTX5080, but then under cut the price by a healthy amount.
If they do this they will gain back market share again. If that happens and then history repeats itself, they'd be set up to knock it out of the park with their next generation cards. (Much like they did with the HD5870/50 cards.)

I hope this is what happens, only because healthy competition is best for all of us. But sadly, this is AMD we're talking about here, and I feel like stupid decisions are coming our way!

In a perfect world... what would happen is... AMD lied about having flagship level cards, would launch the RX9070XT at a low price, and then shock the world with releasing a RX9080XT at a decent price also.
Much like they did with the HD4890. Sigh.... Dreams are fun are they?

Dunno about that 9070xt only has 4096 shaders compared to 5376 on 5900xt. It'll be slower for sure.

You can already get 7900xt for 620 ish. I expect 9070xt will be cheaper, 550 ish !

Possibly 9070xt will over clock past 3ghz, though 7900xt can be tweaked a lot as well. RT on 9070xt probably better, but it's a rubbish feature anyway at these card level.

Like 5080, can't expect anything much as it doesn't have the hardware uplift.

They ARE the market leader - in shooting themselves in the foot while snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

As fun as it would be if AMD was sandbagging, and was hiding a RX 9080 this whole time too, I dont think they have the balls to do it anymore. It wouldn't fit in with their "premium brand" pricing structure.

They'd rather throw everything into being an "AI" company, when the AI market isnt even talking about them.

It's rubbish *on AMD cards at this level.

FTFY. Nvidia's card at this level, the 4070ti, runs as well as the 7900xtx with RT, and is playable.

Ohhhh, that makes sense of the conflicting reports of TDPs for the 9070XT. Original reports were that Navi48 was a 260W part, then we saw leaks and info at CES that it would be 330W. If the 9070XT gets the >3GHz boost clocks @330W as leaked, then 260W could easily be the TDP of the vanilla 9070. Presumably that's a 2.6-2.8GHz ballpark if 330 hits over 3GHz.

This is good news for me, I was planning on reducing the 9070XT's power limits to see what performance I could get out of 200W. If I don't need to pay extra to unlock the 8 extra compute units, then that's a double win.

It's possible the vanilla 9070 will come with slower GDDR6 modules, too. Obviously, we hope not - but that would make sense from a cost and segmentation perspective.

It could also mean that no one actually knows the number of cores. If they are both the same, then the widely reported rumors of 56 and 64 CUs are at least half wrong.

As much as i love AMD i think we're in for a "My disappointment is immesurable and my day is ruined" kind of launch, price AND hardware wise.

I'd love to be wrong about this tho...

It *absolutely does* mean that no one actually knows the number of cores.

Pretty much all of the RDNA4 info right now is rumour, speculation, and guesswork. Leaks are the best we have but even those are unverified so there's no point calling out guesswork and speculation as guesswork and speculation. It's obviously ALL guesswork and speculation and will remain so until AMD or one of their official launch partners blows the embargo.

Interestingly, if you click through to the source article @btarunr cites for this new rumour about both 9070 and 9070XT sharing the same core count, that info isn't actually there any more:
So I'm curious if the source article at uniko's hardware has been edited to remove that info, or if that info came from elsewhere?

The only way that people wont be disappointed is if the 9070xt beats the 5090 with a msrp of us$300 or so.

otherwise it will be trashed.

And then back to the non stop barrage of praises for ngreedia.

I wish AMD would launch the 9070/XT already to take advantage of the current market situation. Over here in Europe the 5090 and 5080 are unobtanium, in spite of the >50% markup. Re-stocks won't happen for weeks or even months. The 4090 and the 4080 are all long gone.

Meanwhile the cheapest 7900XTX is going for converted $780 pre-tax, and the 7900XT for $530. The new 9070XT should slot between these two in raster, while offering better performance than the XTX in RT heavy titles.

The 5070Ti launches on February 20th. If Nvidia's initial stock of the 5070/Ti is substantially bigger than that of the 5090/5080 (which is very likely), AMD will have a very hard time selling the 9070XT for more than $550 at the same time. And not because of the card's bad value, but gamers' mindshare.

Come on, dudes, if any of that was supposed to work it would've worked already. It's AMD we're talking about. There will be no blistering product for a tasty price, it's gonna be another one glorified 7800 XT on steroids. Both for performance and for price.

Want NVIDIA to get real, just don't buy anything.
Want to support AMD, well, psychiatric asylums will happily welcome you.

The 7900xt was a $650 card, commonly available for closer to $600. If the best AMD can do is match it 2 years later, with 4GB less VRAM, it has better be $500 or less, otherwise it will totally DOA in the market.
True, forgot about the dlss bullsh1t worshipping.
This self defeating attitude is so strange. Consumers use and like DLSS, and 4 has managed to nearly eliminate the quality gap, even to skeptics. Perhaps you should be encouraging AMD to fix FSR and close the gap instead of crying about Nvidia?

Great news. :)

"Both SKUs max out the 4 nm "Navi 48" silicon they're based on, and are differentiated by clock speeds."
- any source on this? Everywhere I looked says 4k cores for the XT, 3.5k for the non-XT.

XTX disappeared from stocks sold at $900+, saying that a dGPU with a performance close to the XTX with better efficiency, and overall "package" will have difficulty selling at U$600 is insanity.

Yeah the only way I can see this being a thing is if the lower one is hard locked power limits wise and comes with slower memory with The XT getting both faster memory and the best dies. Assuming the cards are good it's a win win people will spend the extra cuz fomo and those who like value won't be missing anything significant. They could also divert stock to one or the other without having to drop prices like AMD cards always do... They could also be really close in price like 10% cut for the 9070.

It's an interesting move but I guess we will see in a month or so.

I don't know how it would work, though. Has TSMC 4N reached 100% yields? I don't think so.

I still find this an… interesting… approach as far as the yields go. Do they expect to get that many fully functional chips that it will be easily possible to saturate supply for two SKUs? Are scuffed Navi 48s are then going into a hypothetical 9060XT? Just weird. I guess it sorta worked for the 7600XT?
OCing could be artificially limited in the vanilla 9070, just like memory OC is limited in many modern cards (like my 6700 XT for example and the new Nvidia 50 cards)

I don't know how it would work, though. Has TSMC 4N reached 100% yields? I don't think so.

It's probably really high is my guess at this point it's like what 3 years old.

OCing could be artificially limited in the vanilla 9070, just like memory OC is limited in many modern cards (like my 6700 XT for example and the new Nvidia 50 cards)

I'm sure @eidairaman1 will be having a ton of fun with people bricking their cards trying to flash them to the XT lmao.... If this end's up being true.
