Help choosing a GPU

Vision FX 2.0 is a plugin that requires a compatible app. Which of the following are you using?

I didn't know Intel integrated graphics had Cuda, for some reason you didn't circle that.

It also says Intel discrete. As far as I know those don't use CUDA either.

My point is- the GPU ''acceleration'' on that app is non-factor. Quality is the same regardless what GPU you use and the speed is trivial.

If it was a non factor they wouldn't specify CUDA.

It's either disingenuous or misinformed to imply that professional applications aren't first and foremost optimized for the CUDA architecture, and you can use any gpu, it doesn't matter. Especially when companies state that they want a modern CUDA GPU.

Intel is second to NVIDIA for software support, which is likely why the app says, "or you can use modern Intel graphics", as a fallback that will likely be stable, if not fast.

It's quite telling there's zero mention of Radeon, which, lets be real, has been the only other cards recommended, not anything from Intel.

You're still missing the point a bit. You skimmed over that GPU acceleration also works on Intel graphics. Which means they also wrote the code in OpenCL. It's marketing fluff.

I don't think you have any experience with this software. You just googled it, saw cuda, and said problem solved. The GPU acceleration on this app is a non-factor. I will say it again.

You can say it as many times as you want. But it doesn't make it fact that software companies don't have preferred architectures, especially when they spell it out.

If any card was fine they would simply put "12 GB VRAM", or something vague like that.

There are very good reasons why companies that work with GPUs tend to avoid AMD cards. Talk to people who earn money with their computers to find out details.

It is hardly used in my gnu gentoo installation.
